Good Evening.

First time on here, & a bit of a cry for help.

My Son works in the building trade & regularly has a 100-mile round trip to site.

He's off to work in Australia in September, and last month paid just over a grand for a 20-year old low mileage Mitsubishi Carisma to see him through until he leaves for Oz.

Everything was going good with the car until last Thursday, when it wouldn't start for him.

We got the AA out, and they found the in-tank fuel pump not to be working, and recommended a replacement.

We had it recovered to a garage where it currently is.

Lad who owns the garage can't source the replacement part from his suppliers.

Try as I might, I've drawn a blank in sourcing one. I've tried dozens of breakers yards, and parts suppliers, and cant get one anywhere. Tried a local Mitsu dealer and they batted me off more or less saying I've no chance.

Only thing I've seen is a breaker in Lithuania selling on ebay who has about 6 for sale, but although for the Carisma 1.6, they're for slightly lower bhp versions, so not sure if these would be compatible.

I'm unable to match the registration / vin with any of the universal pumps that are on the market (vin = XMDLNDA1A3F023970)

Would any one be able to advise:

Where I could buy one (a stockist/breaker or a specialist / rare parts sourcing consultant)?
Any alternative pump that would be compatible?
Could the old pump be reconditioned / repaired?

Whilst his car is off the road it's making it difficult for my lad in getting to his jobs and thus affecting his earnings.

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Tim
