Red light cameras on the A52 roundabout in Nottingham?
Discussion
Hi everyone
Hopefully someone here will be able to help. On Friday evening, leaving Nottingham towards Tamworth, I was on the A52 (Brian Clough Way) on my way towards J2 of the M1 (S), when I had to stop at the roundabout shown in the image below, at the crudely marked 'X'. This roundabout has since been updated, it now has a 40 limit on the approach and is traffic light controlled.

Anyways, shortly after I stopped to comply with red lights, I see a flickering blue light in my rear view: an ambulance, clearly wanting to get through. The driver behind me beeps (three times), clearly expecting me to move forwards, over the red light. Indeed, traffic coming from the RHS, whose lights were green, had seen the ambulance hence had not started their progress and were hanging back. Not wanting to hold up the ambulance, I edge forward so I cross the stop line but without entering what would be the lane coming from my right (now, the stop line is situated slightly behind the give way lines shown, more sort of at the level of Y).
To my frustration, nobody else moved forward, so the ambulance still could not progress until the lights turned green.
Bottom line: I am scared I am going to get (another) three points for crossing a red light (again).
Does anyone know if there are red light cameras on this roundabout?
TIA

Good Lord that was quick
Thank you for the reply
When was the last time you were on that road - have you been on it since the traffic lights were introduced?
The last time I was done for this was on the Wollaton road; I still don't know where the cameras are on that - on the off chance, do you?

Thank you for the reply

Sorry to hear that. I got done with exactly the same scenario at some lights in Leicester. I mistakingly contested it, and got 3 points plus a larger fine for my trouble.
Next time, I will not go through a red light to let an emergency vehicle pass. The police made another enemy that day...

williamp; thank you for sharing that. I am sorry that happened to you.
iRoll: thanks for the second comment.
Again, if anyone else has further info, please comment.
Generally, how do we identify these red light cameras? The pictures I have seen (http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/traffic-light-camera.htm) are pretty obvious, and there is nothing of the sort on Wollaton road that I have seen, and certainly nothing like that on the roundabout I showed: are there any other sorts that look different?
Thanks again.

No there are no red light cameras on that roundabout. Was trying to get to there on Friday afternoon but police had blocked all access to the M1 it seemed (as stated in an earlier post).

There is a red light camera on Ilkeston Road (about half a mile from where it turns into Wollaton Road). It is on the cross junction with Radford Boulevard I think, although this camera is fairly obvious.
Another red light camera to be wary of is on Derby Road heading towards A52, about half a mile from where Brian Clough Way starts.
That roundabout is on my daily commute to and from the office.
When the road works were taking place to alter the layout to it's current format (with a road going through the middle of the roundabout for the right turners heading from Derby to Long Eaton/Totn) I don't recall any works that looked remotely suspicious as far as cameras are concerned.
I'm 99% certain that the entire junction (and the new 40mph approach limits) are camera free.

Someone mentioned the A453 which goes straight to Junction 24, but I find that road mostly too straight to have any fun. And its absolutely lethal at night, especially in rain. Closing speeds of 140mph with crap visibility.

I avoid that road whenever possible.Crap in the day, as it clogs, and you end up pootling along at 20mph, and crap at night for the reasons you've stated!

What on earth is happening to our Country? You've moved out the way for an emergency vechile, as it states in the Highway Code as someone is in need of serious help. Yet, you get punished? What did the judge say?Next time, I will not go through a red light to let an emergency vehicle pass. The police made another enemy that day...

EDIT: BTW, research at the time showed that you do NOT have to make way for any emergency vehicle - it is up to them to find a way around you. (Although, obviously it helps them if you do get out of their way.)
