The useable space thing is interesting-I guess if you were talking how many boxes of cigars, maybe a saloon would have more usuable space, but I've used the esate version of my car (pug 406) and getting awkward things like multiple bikes in was much easier, as I didn't have to negotiate the pedals around the tighter areas, I just threw them in. Furthermore, I believe it has a couple of extra inches in length to it, but I'm not sure.
Plus in regards to filling up to the parcel shelf-A lot of people tend to fill up to the roof![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

We bought an Blue ST220 Estate in February and I am glad we did. I considered all sorts but eventually decided I needed my first larger engined car (2.0 Fiesta ST my best effort previously).
It is lovelt, bags of space (the bood is ridiculous) enough room for five 6 footers and plenty of toys (the one you linked to as more than ours!) and at that price I don't think there are many better all rounders.
Go try one, you won't be disappointed!
P.S. - I also considered the Saab 9-5 as the performance figures are pretty impressive, but the Mondeo edged it for me.

The other difficulty with the Legacy is finding one! 3 spec b's in budget on Autotrader...
I test drove a spec B estate yesterday which is advertised here on PH but not on autotrader. It's high mileage and cosmetically a bit imperfect, but mechanically very sound and drives as well as a 50k example I tried last year. The noise and performance was great but it left me feeling a little cold. The steering is quite light, and the boot is not quite as big as I was expecting, although I was after a saloon originally.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
