I think I've paid to use the road enough to be able to use it without being held up by people who don't pay tax at the same rate I have to pay it. It's a question of fairness. Pay more, should get more.

So do you object to being held up by a car that pays less ved?

actually not 100% the case, the more accurate thing to say is that 90(ish)% of traffic/congestion is caused by other motorists. I'll grant you that slow moving traffic caused by cyclists isn't usual but it does happen - is it worth complaining about? Normally no, but when it's a couple of cockwombles blocking the road on their ride then it does get people riled - in the same way that cyclists (rightly) get riled when cars block them in towns

Yes, sometimes people are slowed down behind a cyclist for a minute or so, but then once they have overtaken they almost always catch up to where they would have been - the back of a queue, a traffic light or junction - had the cyclist not been there at all.

So I would say that congestion as how most people understand it, is not caused by cyclists.

Also, barring a few tts which you get in all modes of transport, if a cyclist is "blocking" the road, it's because there isn't room for a safe overtake. For example, if coming past parked cars or a pinch point, it's necessary to take a central position in the lane to discourage bad drivers from forcing through where there isn't room to do so safely.
