BMW E36 M3 or Audi B5 S4 - which way would you lean?

My old S4 was 500bhp too, basically a very fast car with no unpredictable dramas.
Personally I love everything about them, but I've never been into arse out RWD cars, so maybe that's the difference. Depends which you want as to which you choose

M3 all the way.
Much more fun to drive and lovely engine.

Audi in standard form is just horrible and therefore going to cost a fair bit to sort.
If you're buying a car of this age that has already *had* the mods, beware turbo failure I know of loads of chipped cars that suffered this, including my own Avant within a month of my selling it.
