RE: TVR announces sponsorship of Ebbw Vale rugby

I imagine the guy in the Welsh Assembly who signs the subsidy cheques just happens to also be a supporter of the club!
It's better than that! The chairman of Ebbw Vale rfc also happens to be one of the main people involved in the circuit of Wales venture! Isn't the new TVR factory due to be built there too? I'd love to see both the circuit and TVR be successful but my cynical side (personal opinion only, no facts to back it up) says that there's a lot of back scratching going on here, and that a handful of people are going to get very rich off of this whilst the majority are going to end up out of pocket with nothing to show for itIn my mind, I'm thinking that this is probably cheaper and better targeted than a recruitment advert in the local paper. As above, people will say "What's this TVR about then boyo?" but then they'll read the article in the programme and realise that they're building a factory, and will be looking for workers. Quite clever, when you think about it.

TVR don't need to advertise on the rugby clubs shirts for locals to find out about potential work in the area, going to be a lot of dejected people as usual no doubt.

Do you actually know anything about the consortium involved the the New TVR? Do you seriously think that the deposit people have put down are what is resurrecting TVR. 250 deposits is £1.25m, a piss in the ocean of the money they are investing.
I really don't understand why people have such a issue. Typical British attitude
This ^^^^^ the misconceptions and negativity being thrown at this is astounding... No wonder a lot of the money and talent fecks off overseas...I really don't understand why people have such a issue. Typical British attitude

Serious question: Do you believe a new TVR car will be available for delivery in 2017?
Serious answer? I couldn't care less...Ozzie Osmond said:

£10 says you haven't even placed a deposit, and you're just looking for something to whinge about.
So have YOU backed YOUR views with a cash deposit? It would be interesting to know how much. Equus said:

Only a moron (who disagrees with practically every successful business in the world) would think a product needs be available for it to be marketed.
You know lots of successful businesses who've made their money by squandering investment funds on sponsorship of unrelated sports before ever fulfilling a single sale, do you? Frivolously giving money away is something traditionally done after you've actually made some...
C70R said:
If you used your brain a little, you'd realise that the sponsorship is entirely related. TVR is to be built in Ebbw Vale; Ebbw Vale rugby club is also in Ebbw Vale. Do you see how that works?
Knowing Ebbw Vale rather better than you do, I suspect (sum total of prospective TVR owners: nil... no, I tell a lie, somebody must be supplying the drugs locally), no frankly I don't.Believe me, TVR would generate quite enough 'positive sentiment' if they could actually create sustainable employment there, without spaffing their prospective customers' deposits on unnecessary and irrelevant sports sponsorship.

Damned right I haven't. I'm not that big a moron.PS - unless you've spent >20yrs living in the area, chances are you probably don't know it "rather better"
I guess someone had to step in to rescue Ebbw Vale with a few quid? Although, I doubt it's going to be quite the same as the £100s of millions already spent by the European development board so far and the £1.8 BILLION earmarked by Europe for further development 2014-2020. And they voted OUT!!! Bunch of halfwits.

Maybe some of the £24bn we'll not give to the EU (2018-2020) might be diverted in that direction - £8bn/year is rather more than £258m/year. At risk of turning this into a political spat, we've always been a net contributor rather than beneficiary so that point is moot. xRIEx said:

That's the classically short-sighted approach of focussing on "cash" rather than "real world benefit". Either way, however much cash is saved is saved by Brexit I can assure you none of it will be spent on setting up a new TVR factory in South Wales.... Gotta love the way the old folks voted for Brexit and already Ministers are beginning to talk about the unaffordability of state pensions. The old turkeys really did vote for Christmas. What we need to see from TVR is at least a design exercise for the new car and some sort of commitment to a selling price. Elsewhere I've been critical of the price of Jag's V8 F-type but I fear this new TVR might make the Jag look a bit of a bargain.

You're coming across as an antagonistic whinger
And you're coming across as either a naive idiot, or a troll - probably both. The whole TVR project is starting to whiff increasingly of DeLorean.
That draws me to one of two possible conclusions:
1. You're an attention-deprived Daily Mail reader, who loves getting his pants in a twist and looking for controversy.
2. You're a serial moaner, who loves stirring the pot about things that have no bearing on his life.
Either way, your contribution to this thread has been largely negative, uninformed and of little genuine help.

You've probably never owned a TVR.
Wrong.I have. Have you?
C70R said:
You've stated no intention to buy the new car.
You should also learn to read: I have stated that I'm not moron enough to place an unsecured deposit on a product that doesn't exist. That is in no way, shape or form a statement that I have no intention of buying one IF and when they manage to successfully bring it into production.

No, I haven't. They don't really do it for me.1. You're a deluded Sun reader, who loves jingoistic fantasy and looking for controversy.
2. You're a serial troll, who loves stirring the pot about things that have no bearing on his life.
Either way, your contribution to this thread has been largely unrealistic, uninformed and of little genuine help.

You've literally brought nothing to this conversation of note/use.
Its fine for you to get your kicks from (poorly) attempting to antagonise, but (as someone who has provided a lot of relevant insight to this discussion) I'm going to talk to some grown-ups and leave you to wibble in peace.

I've pointed out that, contrary to good business practice, customer deposits are not being held safe in an Escrow account (they were asked, and obfuscated by way of response) whilst the company seems to think that it's a wise use of its investors' money to sponsor a third-rate Rugby team as a higher priority than bringing its product to the market. You'd probably have to admit that those issues are fairly relevant in the context of this thread, if only you'd extract your head from out of the sand, or up your arse, or wherever it's currently lodged in darkness and ignorance, for long enough to gain a sense of reality.
