Would You Have Bothered?
Discussion
This morning I was looking out of the office window and saw someone reversing into another car, the chap clearly knew what he had done as got out to have a look and then quickly drove off.
I took the reg of the car that drove off and left a note on the car that had been reversed into.
Now everyone else in the office seems to think I'm just being a busy body, sticking my nose in where it's not wanted, whereas I see it as doing the right thing. I'd rather someone left me a note and the chap that was reversed into was grateful.
So what do you think, would you have bothered, or is it causing trouble?

Did you leave your contact details on the note? Will certainly help the other driver, well done.I took the reg of the car that drove off and left a note on the car that had been reversed into.

Edit: ah, just double read the end of your post, good stuff.
Can't believe the reaction of your office colleagues.
Bet they would think different if it was THEIR car that had been reversed into.
Actually, you could take it a step further and next week, look out the window and then shout across the office "hey Bob, someones just smashed into your car". He will then, inevitably ask, "did you see who did it?" and you say "well yes, got their numberplate and everything but I can't tell you as that would be being a busybody".

I think I know why they would say that, how often do you find dents in your car on the way out of the office?Vladikar said:
What a grass!
I would have done the same, what car did he bump into?
It was a brand spanking Merc S Class reversing into a Jag S Type.

I wasn't doubting what I did, more wondering what the general consensus was on it seeing as no one else in the office would have done the same thing.
Good for you.
I did this years ago. The aggrieved party was a bit thick and started abusing me over the phone for damaging his car. I made it clear that if he did so again I'd not be a witness, the penny eventually dropped
It ended up in Court. The other driver was adamant it wasn't him but I was able to highlight some very specific details about him and his passenger (young lad standing up on the back seat) which did his cause no favours.

Just over a year ago I came home to find someone had hit my car. The damage wasn't that great (detached wing mirror, dented wing) but I was furious that the driver hadn't left a note. Having got indoors it turns out that a delivery driver has witnessed the accident, had spoken to the driver (Female, Volvo XC90, school run. No judgement, just the facts) and ensured that she put her details through my letterbox, and then added his.
After they had fixed and returned my Car her insurance did drag the whole thing out for almost a year, but it was all sorted thanks to a delivery driver who did the right thing.
Be in no doubt, you absolutely did the right thing. As for you colleagues, they are wrong, and perhaps you should avoid parking near then in future!

Pretty much what I was going to say, except I was going to say to take it even further and bump into their cars and then see how they react.Bet they would think different if it was THEIR car that had been reversed into.

Can't believe you're doubting yourself! Well done.
First reply is 100% spot on. Anyone who disagrees is a morally bankrupt spineless fanny.
Imagine if it was your car and someone didn't want to "cause trouble" by helping you get just compensation?
