Car fashion fads
Discussion
There was a new Stinger GT at the station today and I noticed it had bronze door mirror caps and vent trims - it reminded me of the recent article on the new Seat Cupra wotsit with bronze bits and I wondered if all car stylists holidayed together and that is how we end up with new fads/tat that appear at the same time.
Were Audi the first with the chasing indicators that a few others use now?

I think Audi were the first mainstream manf. to do them. I'm sure I read somewhere they had to get regulations changed to be allowed to do it...Were Audi the first with the chasing indicators that a few others use now?

Still think it's funny that Daf were probably the second manufacturer to do it. From flash German PCP mobiles to 7.5 ton lorries in one move.alangla said:

Around the time of the millennium, it seemingly became obligatory to have pull-style door handles (almost exactly like those fitted to a Passat) fitted to everything.
I often wonder if this is a regs thing?I can only think of one car that is avilable new with flush handles and it's the little MG3.
My X-Type has them, mind.

Black on black on black, so boring
Black interiors need to die
Black wheels need to die
Google round to find any Jag from the last 10 years with the interior "London Tan". Simple elegance. Just the right amount of ruddy terra cotta in it.Black interiors need to die
Black wheels need to die
But that's not the only non-black that I like. Other brands have some very nice tan, brown (yes), grey, and off-white colours indeed.
Best of all:
You're out on the town at night. Open the doors and, wow, that non-black interior plays centre stage.

Sequential indicators have been around for a long time. 1965 Ford Thunderbird was the first I think?
Something old and American, for sure. And how we all laughed when we saw them! Then Audi decided to start selling them and everyone was suddenly happy to pay extra to look like a complete fashion victim.
Krone artics have sequential indicators now don't they? No idea how long for but Ssangyong have jumped on this bandwagon I think. It might have been them or another similar brand. Rather than Audi's sort of sleek swooping motion, this was ~3 clunky blobs appearing in stages.
The slice of toast popping out of the dashboard needs to sod off. It's just asking to be damaged and accumulate dust behind it at impeccable speed.
