curuious to know...
the only thing my other half cannot do well at all is park... driving is fine but I need to take over before parking is completed. its caused a bit of tension but how else can you deal with this?! I suppose tell her to put £200 in an escrow account to pay for chipped wheels?! smile

the thing is i like driving too much since Im not doing much mileage. the problem of london is we dont need two cars but im begining to think it would be good just to learn parking!

I let my fella drive my car on track at the weekend (thankfully we were using his track tyres!).

it is coll to let them have a shot, not get too comfortable obviously. i sat back nervously on the autobahn as we hit 240-250kph last year. But the real scare as i say is crunching the wheels. One its expensive to sort out and 2 being in london trying to find somewhere to get them done that doesnt involve 2 hours or more of traffic per 1 mile travelled is the real limitation.

proper piston header here - 2 very practical cars... one that is very fuel efficient and one that makes a lot of noise. Both capable of scaring you on a weekend blast.

Not that I don't trust her in it, she has no desire to drive it.
Think she is concerned about the speed and noise.
I think it would be quite cool and the kids at her school would love it!

Icetea I like it very much, quite right too, the SL is a man's car!!!
I usually get a elbow in the ribs for laughing at the Yorkie choclate adverts on tv. its for men only!

The later I only bought to sell later so I need to keep it in perfect condition... and with 3rd party insurance I don't want to risk that nice big payout I have coming when we finally sell it.

i suffer from car OCD and i suspect quite a few of the other phers here do also.

I see every fine hair line scratch on my car that appears, usually on a saturday afternoon when Im polishing it. when my other half gives the same devotion to my car then i will have to find something else to ridicule!

And what do you drive, then?

I don't understand all this "do you let her drive your car" business. Why wouldn't you, unless she just doesn't want to? Seems a bit mean to effectively tell your other half that your car is more important to you than she is!

Galick says No to the TVR! Brilliant. Sometimes women just need a little guidance from a man!

its just a bit of banter at the end of the week. i appreciate that there is the odd lady out there that might get round an auto salon course quicker than me... although Ive never been beater round a go cart track by one, but accept it is possible!

This thread is absolutely incredible. Do you drive your wives'/girlfriends' cars, those of you who say you'd not let them drive yours? Or is this a one-way rule?

I'm glad I'm not related to any of you lot posting that you wouldn't let them drive your cars. I suppose you don't mind them driving you back from the pub so that you can have a drink!

Oh well, just to even up the balance - none of you would be allowed to drive my cars either. You might kerb the wheels or park across two spaces in a car park or something. tongue out

yes Im getting in that frame of mind now than having arguments about parking in London. Not so bad going to the countryside where parking can be done driving into a space. the wrath of trouble to follow is not worth it! this all happened when i broke my arm 2 years ago and wasnt able to drive my car but clearly needed the car to be run so the battery didnt die etc.

Thats a good point, does anyone else offer advice to their other halfs?

She gave me a lift in her car, and was sitting in the right hand lane of the duel carrigeway, getting undertaken. I suggested she moved over to the left...

I'd rather cycle than face her wrath again.
