These clowns saying Tesla won't happen etc have been saying it since the roadster.

It's just like the people who said video games were a fad, the internet is for losers, mobile phones won't take off etc. etc.

Hilarious to watch but you have to feel a bit sorry for them.

I'm curious though, those of you who think Tesla is going nowhere, seeing as the Rodster, the ModelS, the ModelX & 500,000 preorders for the model3 didn't sway your view, what WOULD it take for you to admit Tesla/Musk is a success and here to stay?
Three things:

1. EVs have been on sale for 20 years and they still represent well under 1% of all vehicles on the road worldwide. The electric maniacs have been saying EV takeoff is just around the corner for decades...

2. Tesla is not "selling" cars. It is "gifting" them. The company is losing billions. Any fool can give stuff away.

3. EVs fail without big government subsidies. It is an artificial market. Hong Kong stopped subsidies and Tesla sales collapsed to zero overnight. Hong Kong is now having to give Tesla buyers $32,000 of free public money (per car) to revive dead Tesla sales!

Thanks for the patronising response I assume targeted at me, it's true I'm no expert but predicted op-ex at $1.1bn and gross profit at $319m , I'd love to understand how that's a good thing

Maybe these pesky market analysts don't know anything either

Tesla Poised To Post Massive Q1 Loss - https://seekingalpha.com/article/4152247-tesla-poi...

Says it all really, coupled with cancelled Model 3 orders, production issues (yes still) and then quality control issues with those delivered with a possible recall pending, its all good news for Tesla , ignore the haters/realists.
This is how most businesses start, huge loans, huge losses, but they are building up a business which will eventually turn to profit.

This is why all the banks advertise business start up loans etc. you can't expect to start a business without debt. You should also know that Tesla have an excellent track record of paying off their loans. They have paid most of them off YEARS early.

Also - Let us know what Tesla have to achieve to make you admit you were wrong.
Lol.

Most businesses accept 1 year of losses for a startup. Some will stretch to 5 years if the boss is kind. A few, like mining, will wait for 10 years.

But Tesla is looking at almost 20 years of losses before even modest real profits arrive. Well into the 2020s, on current data. Financially, Tesla is a disaster. Tesla is not even the world's biggest EV maker.

Tesla's debts, relative to its current and future revenues, are gigantic. Read the first post in this thread. There is an up-to-99% chance Tesla will go bust!

Musk / Tesla did not take on Nasa and win... Musk got billions and billions of free cash from the US taxpayer to launch some space junk into the middle of pristine space!

History is littered with car companies that soared, before crashing, like DeLorean.
