As you can't buy a cheaper spec version, the simple fact is it costs £9k more for the EV model; and you're still driving around in a stty little Pug shopping trolley. It's just a toy for a few rich people who want to project an image they care about the environment.
£25k car = A few rich people

You're joking right? The Mercedes A-Class is the fifth biggest selling car in the UK this year with 50k sales and the cheapest model is £24k.
But swoll, I thought everyone bought C classes and BMW 3 series as per your previous arguments why Tesla did a saloon, sorry sedan?

Cough.....

Can I have your gun after both your feet have been shot? I'd like it as a momento...

Ok, crux of the matter.

Is there an EV car that is currently cheaper to buy and run, with all expenses taken into consideration, than the lowest costing ICE car over 3 years ( average time of ownership)

YES or NO?

If no then the EV's are cheap to run is not a good argument, no matter how good other arguments are.

Who rattled your cage?

Utterly different discussions. One was an argument that no-one buys saloons when they clearly do, this one is an argument that £25k cars are for rich people, which they clearly aren't.

Try and keep up. smile

Totally get your argument. Personally, you could probably get a new Fiesta ST-2 5 door for that kind of money and that's probably the way that I'd be more inclined to go but...for an EV the e-208 is one of the cheaper ones with a decent range. There are only about 6 EVs cheaper than it and two of those are the Twizy and the Smart car and all apart from the Renault Zoe (a considerably older design) have a considerably reduced range. They could have reduced the cost by fitting a smaller battery but then you would have less range and have a less useable car. The forthcoming Honda-e and VW e-Up are both more expensive and have less range.

As I said, if I was spending 25k cash, I'd be more inclined to go with a Fiesta ST. Bit more kit and probably faster and a bit more fun on a back road but if I was doing a more substantial commute and less B-road driving, the e-208 would probably be significantly cheaper to run and just as quick as the Fiesta under those conditions due to the instant torque etc. It does amaze me how expensive new cars have got though. I recall when I bought my first new car, a Polo TDI back in 2008, it was 12k, which seemed like a lot of money for a Polo at the time. My father bought the newer-style Polo TDI with the less powerful 1.2 TDI engine a couple of years later and he told me it was going to cost him 14k. I thought he was crazy! These days, 12-14k is nothing for a new car. Still, they do seem to have a lot more kit on them and the way people generally buy new cars these days, the cash price is irrelevant and if you're a cash buyer then there is still good value to be had on the used/nearly new market.

I had a 2018 Scirocco R lease at £283 a month, £45 insurance a month and £50 a week in Tesco 99, annual service equated to £12.50 a month and 2 x Michelin ps4s a year equated to £20 a month. That's £567 a month. That's based on 10k miles a year. I did 12k a year in reality with excess miles at 8ppm so that equates to £13 in excess charges per month bringing the total cost per month to £580

With evezy my model 3 is £599 for 12k a year and that includes everything above (including Michelin ps4s) with no minimum term contract.

£19 a month extra to have a brand new model 3 Vs a Scirocco.
