Tesla and Uber Unlikely to Survive (Vol. 2)

NL non-Tesla SC pricing is out, essentially a copy of Ionity. Am pretty sure we'll see this rolled out quickly across the SC network, most SCs are sitting idle most of the time, this will allow Tesla to really tap into the revenue on offer.

Interesting! Looks like they have thought about this quite a lot - subscription vs one-off charging sessions. I wonder how it will work though? As in, availability, access and billing process? Should be slick, which should force the other providers to improve their systems.https://twitter.com/i/web/status/14551611608362598...
This is fantastic to see, Tesla need to roll this out ASAP if Elon is serious about 'sustainable' transportation.

How busy are the chargers currently? As the Tesla driver won't be happy if he rocks up and finds a queue of non Tesla Cars.https://twitter.com/lucbronk/status/14551869133175...

So he's finally realised that next to no-one in Europe needs superchargers? https://twitter.com/lucbronk/status/14551869133175...

Thats a fair worry TBH! There will be a minority of owners of Tesla's that still have free charging, who no doubt will be pissed. But the majority of buyers in recent months and years will have to pay, even at a discounted rate. Given that one of the big benefits of a Tesla for a lot of people, is access to the charging network, I suspect this wont necessarily go down well. But, if Tesla can make it happen and balance the books on it - it could well be the kick start that EV adopters need. The big question in the US is around the chargers though. All bespoke here, so lets see what happens.

They are getting too busy. The pace of car sales in the last year has turned what was once a guaranteed easy charge a bit of lottery. I wouldn't have my Tesla if it wasn't for the superchargers, and if they get much busier then I'm probably out of the EV game and back to a big diesel. I do long journeys up and down busy motorways, I can tolerate the charge times, but turining that into a 30min+ wait before you can even start is a deal-breaker. off_again said:

Elon talks green but its bull. He only cares about the business end. And governments have spoken, ev is coming and people have no choice but to adopt. So what is Tesla getting out of allowing others to use fheir network.

Their mission statement. Read it.Yes, Tesla has a mission statement and a very noble one at that. I think what hyphen was on about is that the words of the great electric god dont quite match with the actions of the business. Ultimately, yes, Tesla has triggered action in an area where the industry as a whole has been dawdling. That is true. But does Elon really have those same objectives at heart? I am not so sure.
Was there pressure from some countries to open up networks? Dont know. Is this a pre-emptive attempt to get a step up on other manufacturers and networks? Thats actually my guess at this point. Because its the 'right thing' to do? Mmmmm, yeah, I dont buy that.
I suspect Tesla are seeking 3rd party deals (e.g. large landowners with customers like Tesco and VW) and these businesses won't be interested in a one make charger network that doesn't cater for all their customers and segregates their carpark.
And I'm sure they could partner more easily with existing installers/raise capital to expand their charger network rapidly if they can assure the investors of regular ongoing revenue for decades.

As I understand they got incentives for some locations in some countries in the form of funding to install chargers and those are some of the first in the trial opening to other electric car users.
The funding was given on the premise that the chargers would be for everyone not just Tesla drivers since it came from taxpayers.
Maybe this trial will show very few people bother using them for other makes and it’s all irrelevant anyway, I think it’s very difficult to make money from rapid charging anyway as most people charge at home most of the time and use them infrequently.
I assume in the USA it’s a non starter anyway as they use a proprietor Tesla plug over there?
Stock is doing well again today, not a clue why!

so, today, Tesla seems to have added about 90 billion to their market cap...
... that's more or less the whole of BMW in one day.....
It’s typical of a momentum stock. I’m not being controversial. It’s a huge bubble that may run to 1500 but it will pop. If anyone is truly up 50 bags and sitting tight they are insane. ... that's more or less the whole of BMW in one day.....
This action is driven by short interest which grossly distorts reality. Some do make a fortune but it’s not new. Back in the 90’s I bought my first home with yahoo options. The stock went from 100 to 200 in 5 days. Infospace. Several stocks went from teens to 1000. 3com, palm pilot anyone remember that. It was like looking at a casino slot payout. 30 to 150 in 30 minutes. Today is tame compared. It will all go tits up at some point. I think it’s got a ways to go though. We need a catalyst, like Apple or msft-real cash bell weathers to start bleeding. Hey, what do I know.

People keep saying this yet we keep seeing more ATH.I'm not selling mine, you could make more by trading if you can forecast dips (and there will be some), but that puts me in a dodgy tax position for NZ so I'll just hold.
Same time last year the stock doubled in value then burst like a pimple down to where it was previously. I wonder if the same pattern will follow this year with Tesla board members cashing out at the peak again.
It’s all looking like a total gamble for any phone with stock whether to hold or to cash out before it crashes again and then Uk back on the low.
Bonkers!
