Best route in to avoid traffic on Thurs or Fri
Discussion
Chaps,
We are staying in Blu Nord PH site and got whacked by heavy traffic last year when we came in from the north on the Thursday afternoon...basically lots of people queuing on the motorway going nowhere!
This year we are thinking about bypassing Le Mans proper completely and approaching the camp site from the D92.
Thoughts?

Where was the queue on the motorway? I got to Bleu Nord Thursday afternoon last year and didn't see any traffic but then do go cross-country. If the queues were more to the South of Le Mans (as opposed to the North at the end of the A28) you could try going east one junction on the E50, then off on to the D20BIS and then to the circuit on the D323.
We have approached Lemans on Thursday afternoon for the last two years, and never seen any traffic on the motorway?
We pop into the town to stock up on beer before, so come in the residential roads from the town.
You get queues actually AT lemans track, but this is due to the campsites and searches.

Got stuck in a dreadful jam in Rouen in '13 which I think was due to roadworks on the main route - worth checking for roadworks in advance of going I suppose.
Also the industrial estate zone outside LeMans was total gridlock on the Thursday (just due to rush hour and locals trying to go home I think). Was easier to try to skirt around edge through Arnage town and back in to the edge of Bleu campsites from there.

I think the problems AT the track on Friday were getting down past the back of the stands towards the roundabout that leads to the bridge under the circuit and the Chemin aux Boeufs, this was backing up onto the Voie de la Liberté. That roundabout also backs up traffic into Arnage.
Then, as mentioned elsewhere, they are rebuilding the roundabout between the D23 Route d'Allonnes and the D147 Boulevards Demorieux and Pierre Lafaucheux - by the Renault garage. So if you are heading for Arnage junction 9 off the A11 (Le Mans Sud) looks a better bet than fighting your way from the ring road. Alternatively, if you are a tightwad like me who is averse to péages, the D309 looks a possibility.

were the French Police not on strike last year ? It took us nearly two hours to get down the back of the grandstands to the Campsite on the curves. I'm thinking of going in through Arnage this year.Or if I can find out when the track is open to traffic then I'll come in from the east and over the Mulsane straight to get to the check point at the camp site. It didn't help last year when some idiot emptied a huge super soaker type water pistol into the car and all over the dash. I was not a happy person at that point.
