Would you spend £20k on a diesel car today?

My Golf GTD estate cracks over 50 mpg and is a hoot to drive. Next year I will be looking at a new car and yes after a recent spell with a 1.5 Tsi Passat I think a petrol is on the cards. Seriously considering some kind of plug in hybrid. My brother in law loves his Auris Hybrid which in the right circumstances has a good turn of speed. Let's wait and see.
