Recommendation on small Auto hatchback around £10k

My Daughter is looking for her first car.
She sits her text next month in an manual, and has only driven manuals, but is insistent on getting an auto.
She's asked me to help but I've never owed an auto, so know nothing about which ones to look at and ones to avoid.
As this will be her first car the insurance will be quite expensive, so smaller engine preferred, but she is 22 so hopefully it wont' be too bad.
She'll use it for her commute which is 15 miles of twisty A/B roads and a 3 mile section of dual carriageway.
