Green lights on F1 cars

Whilst at Silverstone during the testing some cars red rear rain lights we on, but they were green. Was this to let everyone know it was rookie driver at the wheel as there were a few out (Hamilton in a McLaren, Quinterelli in the Spyker). Is it the F1 equivilant of the black cross on yellow square sticker?
