I'm not saying for a moment that is forum is not of use, but it is "open" and as far as I can see only has a dozen or so directly involved contributors out of potentially a few hundred. How many EERC members are there ??

If we had something on the EERC site, would we attract input from more of our fellow competitors? Those not directly involved could also contribute but by signing on as interested parties for I don't believe they should be excluded from airing their views. I see this as a way of getting more teams and competitors involved in "light hearted " discussion hehe

I think an EERC moderated forum would be a disaster. No one wants to see any form of criticism on their public website and as a result the forum would lose all it`s bite. It would turn into a toothless arena.

There are some posts on here where people have an axe to grind or are just off their trolley but we all spot those a mile off.

The EERC may not like all they read on here but can learn from some of the points that hurt. What they can do though is take great comfort and pride from the positive posts because they are not "forced" posts. If you want to get your letter published you start by using the words, "Dear sir can I start by saying Hamster Spanking Monthly (as a random example from my coffee table), is the best specialist interest publication on the planet, it really hits the spot" you then go on to mention that the Hamster featured on page 76 of issue 43 was actually a Gerbil but they only print or remember the first part.

What about a members only site, we all have our EERC membership cards and as far as I know, joining the EERC is open to anyone who is prepared to give full details of who they are. If it's not then it should be as it could also provide another income for the club. We all pay our dues via race entry fees, non race members could join for a small fee and thus get access and join in and I'm sure there could be other benefits for them so doing.

I like this forum and intend to use it regardless but if I had, shall we say, a more involved point to make, I would feel happier within a members only forum to express myself in greater detail.

Rod, I tend to agree with you regarding a members only area in the EERC site. Personally, I am happy to verbalise my feelings to anyone that will listen but many might not be so forthright and I can understand that.

However, surely the question is - who is listening? We can say "how about this; that's a good idea; lets try that" but unless the EERC are listening and want to make changes we are wasting our time. I am still prepared to give it a go but sometimes I believe the powers that be are completely deaf! Lets hope I am wrong!

Cheers,

Richard.

P.S. James - how about sending an email to all the club members indicating changes, if any, that you are contemplating. It would stop a lot of speculation!
Hi Richard,

I don't think it is necessarily a question of being forthright but more that of being aware that what you say on an open forum could be turned into Chinese whispers.

I believe that the EERC keep an eye, close or otherwise on this forum, as to if they take on board things that are said or suggested, well that remains to be seen !! coffee

This very theory was suggested to me a while ago by another regular PHer, and I asked PB face to face at Brands Hatch. He acted totally perplexed, and, speaking as somebody trained in the fine detail of these things (for 13 years as a magistrate), I must say his reaction was convincing. I note that 2PF posts on all manner of forums, including F1, and I question whether your prime suspect would have the time or the inclination to throw his damp squib into such a diverse variety of subjects.

I have been particularly vitriolic and personally insulting to 2PF on this forum, and PB still gives me the time of day whenever I see him, so he must be a damn good actor as well as a damn good driver, if what you think is true.

Of course, I could be completely wrong.
I agree with you Steve, it can't be PB, he's got no reason to post in anything other then his own well respected name, if he said something outrageous nobody would worry anyway as he is known to be outspoken. Most of the time I've heard him have a go he been spot on or a near miss at worsthehe

Why don't we just forget about it, it's hardly earth shattering either way, if this unknown individual wants to post, so be it, equally if somebody wants to take issue with what he says that's fine, if nobody wants to reply, that's cool smokin
