Although I love driving I have yet to take a road trip dedicated to driving on some good roads, but I've finally got the opportunity to do so. Here's what I'm after:

- around 4-5 hours/day of driving
- places to stay along my route that have internet so I can get some work done
- not overnighting too far from a hospital as I have some medical conditions that can require emergency treatment at any time

Any suggestions? I was thinking of heading to Scotland and exploring the roads around there. Also thought of Wales but 8 days feels like overkill. I definitely want to do a trip into Europe too but it seems a bit intimidating for my first road trip, although maybe some of you think otherwise?

Thanks in advance!

Europe isn't intimidating but your serious medical condition makes it unwise anyway.

Obtaining travel insurance for Europe with a condition probably near impossible or very expensive.
I've got annual multi-trip travel insurance that covers my condition, it's around £90. It's just severe food allergies - not too complex, but if I accidentally am any of a list of foods I have to inject myself and be reached by an ambulance ASAP (certainly within half an hour)

Europe is fine for food anyway - i've travelled to most of it (including france). I just meant intimidating to drive into it. But you say that's not the case - so would you suggest I drive into and around France instead of Scotland?
