Many thanks .

It was 139 -140 MPH on the cars speedo so as you say in reality more like 130 MPH max but still felt rapid from the drivers seat .

Great build, attention to detail is spot on.

I would be very surprised if you could anywhere near 140 mph at Bedford, maybe an indicated but not in reality. (Harry’s & Trackaddict are also not accurate)

996.2 & 997.1 GT3, M3 CSL, Ariel Atom struggle to make 140. - With a Vbox I think you would be mid - late 120’s.

That aside keep up the good work!

At the weekend i have given the car a good check over and all is good .

Oil , coolant and brake fluid is all spot on and all on the full marks .

Going back to the brakes as per the below and re looking at this a bit more i would say the front pad wear is only around 5 % and about the same on the rear so the bigger set up looks to be keeping wear down as well as giving massive stopping power .

Front pads

Rear Pads

That is my thinking as if you do get it wrong there is a load of run off and as its the first time was the best place to start .

I would say around 10 - 15 % its hard to tell as i never braked late enough and they had so much stopping power i did not need to use them all esp following other cars as they were braking much sooner that i needed to .

No fade or overheating even in the 34 deg temps and were rock solid all day so cant rate this set up enough .

alex98uk said:
Good job. I like Bedford, it's a perfect way to test out a car without danger.

Out of interest, do you know roughly what percent of front brake pad you lost over the day? The torque vectoring obviously massively increases wear, but just interested to know before/after from your side.

It is the bolts for the rear beam mounting bracket that need to be removed so you can gain access to the bolt in the bush and set the bush out .

It is more the fact that the bush bolt is so long so you need to drop the rear beam ( unbolt the rear shocks ) to get access to remove the long bolt .

Not a bad job but like with everything space is you enemy .

alex98uk said:
Hey Alan,

Looking at doing this with a friend in the next weekend or two.

Just wondering which mounting plate x 3 bolts you refer to? Are these bolts on the fuel tank, or elsewhere? Just trying to understand what exactly needs doing so we know what is ahead!

Another update and a part that i said i was not going to do but then changed my mind .

I did want to look to change the gear shifter on the car to raise the height of the shifter closer to the steering wheel and did get a Likewise shifter extension and weighted gear knob .

After i installed this last month the gear shifter position was much better but i did not like the shift action so took this off and got the kit sold .

The only other option was a Coolerworx or CAE short shifter but the install is not easy and they cost £ 680.00 - £ 1000.00 .

After thinking about this more i did the logical thing and got the Coolerworx unit on order for £ 670.00 direct from Coolerworx .

The Coolerworx unit turned up on Monday and i set about the install .

Coolerworx unit .

Then i started to take apart the dash and center console .

Then removed the OEM shifter assembly .

OEM shifter next to Coolerworx unit .

Test fitting the Coolerworx unit .

And the final install with the trim all back in and the Coolerworx unit connected up and shift arms adjusted .

A quick vid taken from my phone of the shifter in action .

https://youtu.be/bdvRn_ixrvk

I think this is now one of my favorite parts on the car now .

Its not long been out so i think im one of the first to have it installed but as you say it is not cheap .

Is not an easy install and setting up the gears takes a long time but worth it .

It has a super short throw and very mechanical feel and im very happy with it .

alex98uk said:
Damn that's cool. I want one.

Didn't realise it would run quite to that amount of money though!!!

Another part has come in that i have been waiting weeks for .

I have got a new Fire extinguisher kit KAP Industries with mounting bracket and all fixings .

The kit fixes to the passenger seat and uses the stock seat bolts and does not impact on the seat movement .

Not the most exciting thing on the car but one that could be the most important if the worst happens .

KAP Industries Fire extinguisher

And installed under the passenger seat

Another small update .

My Mountune induction hose was looking a little worn and has a nick in the top of the join and also the oil mist from when the car was not running the catch cans .

[url]|https://thumbsnap.com/KixRpr4f[/url

I have got a new Ram Air induction pipe to replace the old Mountune unit .

I also had some DEI gold heat tape left over from when i installed this on the crossover pipe .

I have then wrapped the whole induction system with the DEI Gold heat reflective tape .

Then all installed .

Will not make a major difference but should help keep the intake temps a bit lower .

Another weekend and some more stuff done .

I have been looking in to getting extra cooling in to the intercooler and radiator and so far have opened up the top OEM grill to improve air flow to the top of the intercooler and radiator .

The bottom half of the bumper to the intercooler and radiator is unrestricted and flows well .

The part that does not have any direct flow is the middle of the bumper where the number plate sits .

Pick of the OEM bumper .

I have used a 64mm hole saw to add some extra holes to add extra flow in to the center of the intercooler and radiator but have made sure the holes can all be covered up by the number plate .

Number plate back on to hide the flow holes .

The plan will be to remove the number plate when on track to improve the flow to the intercooler and radiator and then re attach after finishing the track day for the drive home .

A very very small update sort of .

I have removed the ST engine cover to let a bit of extra heat out as the engine cover will just act like a top hat im thinking and it will give more access and room in the engine bay .

I still have a few new parts to go on the car that i will look to do later this year or early next year and a big upgrade planned for Feb 2020 for the car .

A full report from the trip to the Nurburgring below .

Saturday afternoon and both cars had a check over and wash and wax ready for there long hall on Sunday morning .

The I30N was going to be the pack mule so was loaded up with everything ( The I30N has loads of space in it i have found out )

We set off at 6.00 AM on Sunday morning for Dover and the weather was raining and blowing a gale but we made good time and got to Dover port in loads of time .

As the weather was getting worst the ferry was an hour late and was not easy getting in to port but we loaded and set sale .

It was very choppy and took longer due to the bad weather to get to France

The weather got worst in to France and Belgium so much so that we were doing 40 - 50 MPH max as it was that bad .

https://youtu.be/vu9Mfii4bAs

Finally go in to Germany and a quick blast on the Autobahn to 130 MPH in the I30N and Fiesta ST before the rain came back to stop anymore fun .

We got to the Hotel at 10.50 PM after a very long and slow driver through Europe so dumped the bags and went to bed .

After a good sleep we went out and got some breakfast .

And a pic of the Hotel .

And a pic from room no 12 with a great view of the track .

And one of the car park .

We then went and watched some of the track day that was going on .

A lap of the track day from Monday

https://youtu.be/wjF_ReNgU9M

And a few random pics

Then at 5.15 PM we set off for the track .

A few vids of some very slow laps round the ring as i just dear not push the car that hard there after seeing so many horror stories .

Then we called it a day and went for a welcome beer .

Then went out for dinner at Pinocchio where did some damage to a very large calzone .

On to our last day and the weather took a turn again and was raining all day again .

Coming up to 5.00 PM the rain was not stopping so i changed the AR1 tyres over for the road set of ADO8R tyres and went out on track .

The track was very very wet and very few people were out but as we were here we had a go but with the ADO8R tyres there was zero grip to be had and i did only two very slow laps with bugger all traction .

Wet laps below

We then went out for some dinner at Pistenklause and much needed beer or two and a stake on a stone .

Then it was up early to catch the ferry home and end the trip .

Some pics of the car on track

To sum up it was another amazing trip and our fifth time in a row to the ring .

That will be it for this year so just the two track days for the car this year but next year i plan on doing a lot more and must do Spa as i keep on talking about it .

I still have a few bit that i need to fit to the car and some more bits on order and will update when they are done .

Plans for next year will be to upgrade the hybrid turbo to a new spec unit and get the power up to around 340 BHP , Get the Geo setting all done and add some more front camber and rear camber , Get a set of rain tyres for wet track days , upgrade the front lower arms .

Another new part for the car and another new update .

The ITG induction air filter sits behind the front bumper just under the headlight and is well out of the way of hot air from the engine but does not get a direct air flow to it due to its location .

To improve air flow to the ITG filter i have ordered a headlight blank with a cold air feed .

Headlight blank with cold air feed .

Quick lose test fit .

Quick rub down and a spray of primer .

Then a few coats of satin black paint .

Then the cold air tube flex installed .

And installed

The front headlight is very easy to take out and can be done in a few mins so this will be nice and easy to swap over on track and then swap back for the drive home .
