Lovely bit of machinery. Congratulations!

Did anyone else notice the tennis balls in the engine?

And nice to see the Nurburgring seats.

Hi
yep car looks nice,3.2 carrera rear wings i am sure would be wrong for a 73 rs,but would need to check this.I know its going to be in rsr spec soon,as you say
Some detail comments,i hope you dont get to depressed. Its great to see some rsr reps out there,as they look fantastic, but please dont put rsr on it,unless you realy have to.
I have a freind who has a proper rsr, restored by sigi brunn in switzerland, what a car, nearly as nice as my st!!!!!!!
Rear bumper on rsr should have short horn overriders,so that the twin exaust comes out properly, let in to the rear valence and not the overrider.
Junk the clock and glove box lid.The front air vents by the side lights look plastic, should be metal with the kind of money you are spending on it.
rsr had gearbox oil cooler pipes running up the outside of the near side sill to a front cooler.
oil pipes should be in the sill, you would not want one of those rupturing at 8,000rpm inside the car,you would probably have 80%burns!
Shame about the fuel tank,it needs to be inperiod realy. And can still be a safty tank full of foam.
The cage does not look to period ,i have some fia papers on homoligation of rsr & rs cages, and all the other parts that go on the cars.
The dampers with springs,if genuine rsr they will be titanium springs!
Its always the detail that lets the reps down, and of course all my observations are finiky points realy. There are some great accurate books out there on these cars, get the rs book for xmas, its expensive, but lots of good photos and info.
I know they say there rs decal on the side is there trade mark,if you want it look right ,get rid of them and put the proper decals on!
Oh and then you are on to rsr wheels,11 & 9 inch x15 fuchs, thats going to hurt, proper wheels will set you back big money, the front 9in will be around £1500 each & the rears if you can get them, around £3k each!
The rsr engine looks good with either high butterflys or throttle slides, watch the slides as they can jam open with grit in them!
The fuel pump needs to be the big one, to get the possible 300+bhp The marrelli 12 spark is very expensive, dizzy cap around £800,and 4 sets of points at £30 each, and a night mare to set up.I have just bought new points for my car, from switzerland,£120 for the 4.
Good luck with it
