996 GT3 - what does "Clubsport" actually give you?
Discussion
Help!
I know the major differences between 964RS touring and lightweight, and 993RS comfort and clubsport, but i'm finding it extremely difficult to determine what the "clubsport package" gives you (or takes away from you!) in a 996 GT3 (especially mk2).
Can anyone shed light please?
Thanks in advance...

I've had both, but a while ago, so if memory serves me correctly - Mk I Clubsport gave you a single mass flywheel and battery cut-out switches (on front of transmission tunnel inside and a wire-pull that protrudes from under the luggage compartment cover (bonnet) near where the tax disc goes but which can be tucked away). I think the Nomex bucket seats were part of the package, but could be "optioned-out". I had the Porsche Cars Clubsport press car (T694 CBL I think?) and it had the option of a high capacity battery too, although I presume that would be heavier and therefore may be seen as a drawback.
I would have thought when buying it's more important to find a good car than a specific trim preference as the parts are easy to change/add.
I think flywheels are the same on a Mk II so even less to worry about.

I just checked and the reg of the GT3 was T670 CBL. More interestingly, I found out by googling "T694 CBL" that it (a C4 coupe) was used in a Clarkson TV programme.
Try it (with the speechmarks) and it'll take you to a site that sems to record details of cars used in TV/films. May be interesting research when buying a car......
My GT3 didn't come up though, but you'd find it if you searched magazine articles of the era.

IIRC you only got the single mass flywheel in the MKI. The MKII Clubsport had the regular dual mass one. Single mass was only available in the RSCheers Daz, was looking at the GT3 wiki last night
Just trying to fill in the blanks a bit. Get the feeling that with the mk1 i'd be better off without the clubsport option, and with the mk2 it doesn't mak a lot of difference since most of the comfort cars seems to have leather buckets rather than plain old sports seats. All the mk2's seem to have the half cage too.
That's my fave at the mo, a mk2 comfort with leather buckets and half cage.

How are you finding the GT3 as an ownership experience?
Haha, not to worry though matey, often up the H'row neck of the woods (although on verge of buying a m'way sl4g for the boring journeys)...I'll give you a shout when nearby in the '3 (still have your #)How are you finding the GT3 as an ownership experience?
Yep, loving it, it's Housemasters previous ride, so in fine fettle, exactly the model I was looking for (in hindsight), although was a bit of an adventure getting there...as said on another thread, buying the "right" model in terms of condition far more important (imho) than debating Mk1 or 2...I looked at many of both varieties, but glad i settled on the Mk2.

That's what I meant - Clubsport & Comfort are the same.
Wrong Greater difference between CS & Comfort on the Mk1.
Hardly night & day differnces I agree, but the single mass flywheel alone makes the CS feel more "special" & as has said above - rarity.
Not wrong I think you'll find
