Hi guys,

I've just been on the phone to Autoclassica to ask about their new-ish venture, see:
www.autoclassica.co.uk/ontrack/

I'm trying to work out if it's good value or not, so your opinions would be appreciated.

They are offering the following:
You get to go to a track day for £899 plus VAT which is £1056 per driver. Plenty of different circuits are available, all for the same price.....so Silverstone or Brands GP cost the same as Snetterton, Oulton or Donny.
You get fed whilst you're there....very important...the day starts with briefing and bacon butties.
You get to use 3 different cars:
2 are 996 GT3 RS Cup cars (not modified road versions of the GT3) and one is a 993 RS.
There are between 5 and 10 punters sharing these cars. You get stacks of track time, enough to be absolutely knackered by the end of the day.....it sounds like you get 2-3 hours of total driving time which would knacker me.
There are instructors who I think come out with you every time you drive.
If you crash, you don't have to pay the excess, they do.
They use Goldtrack and Motorsport Events' track days. Some are open pit lane, others aren't.

So is it good value?
Well I no longer run a dedicated track day car, but I used to and it wasn't cheap. Major costs include depreciation, servicing, tax, MOT, petrol on the day, wear and tear....so brakes and tyres v. expensive.......
I think my track car probably cost me 5 grand a year all in easily (I blew up the engine on my E30 M3 Sport Evo). For that, you could do 5 of these Autoclassica days with zero risk and zero hassle. I'm warming to the idea.
Autoclassica will be doing 30-odd track days in this format this year and maybe 40-50 next year.

I have no affiliation with them. What do you guys think? Maybe a PHers day out? I'd have to save up!!
