I heard on the radio the other day that Jay Kay is selling a sizeable chunk of his collection.

Along with many other cars, it seems the first batch weren’t making the reserve prices.

Personally speaking, I'd say mentioning JK as the previous owner would reduce rather than increase the chance of selling :-)

Not the best time to sell either, compared to a few years ago. I'm sure I read he's making a loss on some of these.

Either he's so loaded he doesn't mind, or he really needs the cash...

Carrera GTs were £900k + only a few years ago.

Dunno if Jay needs to money or not, but some of his Ferraris in particular have some, let's say, individual spec choices. There's been a tendency to have partial or total green interiors, for example.

The signal yellow US car is a bit of a one off and not imo anyway reflective of the 'normal' market for the cars. In general, cars in europe were afaik around £high 600-700k and only for fairly low mileage ones, a stupid price on the Hartley car doesn't make it a blanket 'cgts were £900+k a few years ago'....

He doesn't need the money, he's made huge gains on cars alone. It's only thinning the collection, although got rid of his Enzo, LaFerrari, 550M and recently a whole host of modern classics; 850CSI, SL, M3 E30, 1M Coupe etc.

AFAIK, theres still the 50s 300SL roadster, 600 Grosser, F40, F430 Scud Spider, and hes recently got an new Alpina B5 Touring and 992 C4S.

Having seen the man himself in a car on the road I would advocate not buying one off him! Great singer but a prize twonk!

You have to think its a good idea as the car market will return back to normal. There aren't any buyers out there - so prices will continue to fall

He’s been offloading cars all year. Many through Silverstone auctions.

If he kept them locked in a garage he'd be moaned about for that too.

He seems to have a generally high turnover of cars in his collection anyway, and has done for years, so I don't know if this 'offloading' is anything exceptional or just his usual housekeeping.

Watched that, and yes he can be an asre hole, but cant see were that's relevant to his car ownership or selling them
There are that many asre holes on this forum, no car would be sold on pistonheads if that was the case biggrin
