Just cleaned the 3200 and noticed a large crack on the Spoiler underneath the Rear Drivers Side Exhaust Box.
(Where the Exhaust box exits the rear End of the Car)
It has totally burned away the Paint and the Surround has cracked badly.

Is this a Warranty Job ? (still under Maserati warranty )

And is this a normal problem associated with the cars ?

Thanks for any more info on this problem.

Its totally burnt the surrounding part of the bumper to the point where large cracks have appeared.

Just been told the Trident warranty does not cover this ! Really Peeved off now.

Just had a close look.
The Rear Box has completely blown and its burnt the Bumper.
Upon checking the Exhaust, it appears the Box has had some form of "Exhaust Sealant" applied around the Pipe so someone had previously known about an existing problem as this sealant is not on the other BackBox.(they also painted it Black)
So either the previous owner has made a botch job or the Main Dealer.
Eitherway the (Maserati) Dealer needs to explain to me why they let the car be sold in this condition.

Very Pssid Off
Now I cannot make the AutoItalia Day.

Thanks for the info Nigelo.
Dutchy Sorry mate, The car if used will melt the Rear Bumper under the exhaust.
The AA said that had the car been maintained correctly by previous owner , as per the Service Schedule then this problem would have been picked up as it has taken some time happen.
The Whole Exhaust seems to have been replaced at some time except the back boxes but whoever has applied the "Sealant" is a Shark and Maserati are going to get it in the ear big time tomorrow.
I feel they should have either checked the car correctly or replaced the box.
Now I am going to invoice them for the respray and Fitting of my New Back Boxes which I ironically have on order.

Thats a good Point Nigelo.
The rest of the system looks new in comparison.

Is it common for the back boxes to rot in this way ?

I did get told the back boxes do not last long, mine are still originals though and they are nearly 4 years old. Will need replacing this year.
Does the rear bumper need to come off to change them them

Yep , The rear bumper has to come off and The Main Dealer chargers for one hour on each exhaust at approx £89 + Vat to fit each box.

Car been transported on 9th may to Main Dealer for warranty work and general service etc.
Still fuming about condition of exhaust at hand over during the purchase but lets wait and see what happens re : cost!
Having www.larinisystems.com exhaust fitted.
So will be adding clip to their website shortly.
P.S Excellent Service and Great Advice for what its worth and an excellent Price.(re : exhaust company)
Roll on the 11th May !
Hopefully my car will be repaired and new exhausts ready to roll!
P.S Collection and delivery on transporter is 20p per mile which seems good value subject to decidiing who made the chop shop job on my exhaust !

Total milage added onto my car will be 160 miles and I get charged £75 for the collection and delivey plus I get the fuel bill ! This aint right ! Surely ?
What do you guys think ?

Well Im in dispute with the Dealer!

The Car was sold to me with Full Service History by A Maserati Dealer.
I then find out the exhaust box has had a temporary repair either by previous owner or dealer. But the Dealer will not admit to this work.Even though they should have checked this prior to handing over the car (Imo)

The Rear Bumperwas burnt as a result of the Box Breaking up.

I have car collected for which they charge me £75 Inc Vat , adding 160 miles to the clock , using my tank of fuel and they will not replace the fuel or cover the collection charge !

The main reason the car was in the dealership was due to the shoody repair job to the backbox and while she is there I requested an oil change.
At this point they are stating that becuase an oil change was carried out , The Dealer is not liable to cover the costs of collection and fuel!
I think that I am entitled to these costs and to a certain extent the costs of labour to fit the new exhaust due to the cock up of the previous oversight ?

Oh and I booked the car in with 10 days notice stating the exhausts have to be replaced yet I am told today the car will not be ready because the exhaust support rings are on back order from Italy and will take to next wed to get them !
They have had a total of 17 days time to resolve this and I am now getting a little off!

What does anyone else think ?
Cheers for any help on this guys.

That really is very poor.

Tell them your impending GranSport order will be from another dealer!

Also tell them you might expect such service from a Fiat/Alfa dealer, but not a Maserati one. See, I knew the Alfa/Maserati tie-up wasn't a good idea

(apologies to PWIG - just joshin')

Hi Paul,
Im livid with them.
This relationship has gone from bad to worse and its been the perfect end to a crap week!

Well the Main Dealer has backed down.
I do not understand this treatment.
I mean , I have spent years earning the money to spend on such a car and here I am getting shafted by the service dept by a Main Dealer.

They were wrong , they knew they were wrong and still they try it on.
Well I refused to accept it and would have gone to court over the dispute plus I would have pulled my pending new car deal with them.
Eventually they relented.Like I need this stress.

I have had a really bad week business wise and Im in no mood to tolerate such treatement so why can they not be more decent about things and why does it have to go to solicitors before you receive an honest service ?

Im sick of this and its taken my car off the road for 10 days when I need it for 5 of these days.
Not good enough.

The Italians need to get their act together as well(parts delivery wise)

Now I understand the importance of Main Car dealers (at least you get the work carried out locally)
Roll on the DB9 (superior Service may I add)
At Least its only a few miles down the road.
The 3200 Is a wonderful car but the service by my Main Dealer Stinks and this is what lets a great car down.

Hey Paul
Well the Dealer finally agreed to cover the costs.
I informed them that I was not going to pay for the repairs that were caused by the Dealers lack of attention etc.
But it was a case of chase, chase , chase.
I love my 3200 but the customer service has not been very impressive.
I hope the Gransport delivery and pre-inspection runs much more smoothly.

Re : DB9 I have a waiting list of 18 months (much better than the at Ferrari (re : 430)
and the Customer Service is first class (Ferrari Take Note).
It also allows me to enjoy my Gransport for 18 months then part ex for the DB9.

For what its worth I still think the 3200 has a better looking rear end compared to the DB9.

Why did Maserati change the Boomerang lights to the awful Honda Style lights !? (Damn the Yanks!)

P.S My current experience with a Main Dealer still concretes my opinion of Car Dealers that there are very few who you can trust.

There are some (but not many)
Met an Indi this week who was outstanding for what its worth.

Well.......... Still waiting for my 3200 to come back
Well Annoyed.
I love the car but getting parts can be a real pain as the delivery from Italy can take weeks for such trivial parts but these are the bits that leave my car standing at the garage !
Getting sick of this and the Dealer who cant track the damn parts or give me a time when the cars due back.
I Need the car for Wed (another thread on that) and Im the one ringing the dealer at the end of business eventhough they assured me they would call !
I wish there were more dealers in my area as this has Pd me off big time.

Beginning to understand the attraction of Main Stream High performace cars (e.g more dealers and local to the Main Towns etc)

Well. They could not get the official parts for the exhaust from Italy on time.
Tried fitting the 355 Exhaust Seals but no joy and then had to fit my old seals which luckily did not rust to the point of breaking up.

So had this happened then my car would not be ready for the Media Shoot tomorrow and I would have been even more Livid.

I cant believe this level of service and as a result will be putting the car up for sale.
So if anyone want a 3200 let me know guys ?
Cheers.

Lets Just say they are on Think Ice.

The repair is Shite - Giving them a Bollocking tomorrow.
They have basically used a spray can to paint the whole area silver and not even filled it in !
Taking the Pieces or what !

On the Positive changing the Break Fluid made a big difference after just 3,000 miles with a marked improvement.

Re : Exhaust ! What a Difference ! The 3200 has finally got the sound it deserves !

The car Honestly sounds like a V12 now at between 4 and 6.5k revs ! My Neighbours even came out of their houses wondering what it was ! Terrific

The name of the Exhaust is = Larini
It looks great and sounds Amazing !
If anyone wants a sound link email me and I can supply video clips of before and after within the next week (once I figure out how to upload to PC from DVC!)

I highly recommend this Exhaust -
It sticks out a little more (about 1 inch) than the standard system but it is far better built than the crap Maserati supply!

Also it is a marked improvement on response when applying the accelerator and Boy! you can hear the Turbo's now ! Wonderful !
The Power delivery is much more smooth and no more "Jolting" including a quicker response time overall (that I am certain)
Also people hear you and get out of the way more often (perhaps this is the Boy Racer in me - Forgive this comment)
But I am very very angry with the Dealer for failing me and the other order is under "review" until this stop taking the "Pieces" with me but having this Exhaust has put a Broad Smile on my face and it is highly recommended !
Thanks to Neil at Larini - Top Bloke and delivers quickly and on time.

If anyone wants pics email me guys or tell me how to put up pics on here ?

Hope this of help to anyone who want to enhance the Sound of their 3200.

Just Did MTV Pimp My Ride today and the Dealer didn't deliver my car back until 5.30pm yesterday so ran the risk of letting MTV Down. Which was why I was pulling my hair out !
Luckily the Car Turned up but the repair job on the internal part of the spoiler is not acceptable - I mean I could have gone to halfords to use a spray can !
They didnt even fill the holes that the Blown exhaust caused !
Had enough of this Dealer - Over to My Solicitors now.

Re : Exhaust - Drove 250 Miles and at 6k revs its awsome !
A certain chap (top bloke by the way) had a 360 there today at MTV with an awsome exhaust which blew me away! - That Sounded Amazing and I now have to work out how to get my PC to understand the connection to my CamCorder !(any help gratefully accepted!)so I can upload the 360 and 3200 Exhaust Clips!

The Maserati sounds awsome at 6k and makes people get out of the way especially in 2nd Gear !! ! But the 360 Exhaust (I will leave that to a certain gentleman to mention !) is awsome !

The 360 is an awsome sight !
Not to forget the stunning TVR Grif 5 litre - Another cracking car with awsome sounds !

P.S when you guys read this I have the pis for you all!
Thanks to Steve for the "Group Shots " - They are Quality ! Will email them to you all tonight / tomorrow !

The Larini Exhaust is Great Value and after the mileage today I can state its not overbearing and the sound really kicks in around 6k revs in any Gear.
Now the 3200 sounds like a proper Super Car !
What more can I say.
Contact Neil (Top Bloke) at Larini for more info.
