I am beginning to suspect a decent source of internal engine dimensions data is a holy grail of sorts.
For example if l wanted to know what stock valves would fit in a given guide (length, stem diameter, number/positions of grooves etc..) or the internal diameter of a stock big end of XX car, would l basically need to own the relevant workshop manuals to find out??

Are there other sources of technical data such as this OR as is the lack of, one of the reasons engine builders tend to specialise (esp Ford Xflow it would seem)? Can you not get data bibles that are manufacturer independent?
