DB Autotrain Trieste to Dusseldorf

Hi guys, have been on here a while as "baml" but change of work email and my lack of grey cells means i've forgotten my old password!
Anyways thought i'd post a quick message to give you guys some colour on the Autotrain from Trieste to Dusseldorf. This service is particulary useful if like me, you want to do a roadtrip through Europe and into Italy without having to do the hard slog driving back. This saves you driving 1,100km or 700 miles. As an aside we did Champagne, Black Forest, Switzerland (Furka, Grimsel etc), down to Lake Como and then on to Venice. Epic trip.
Basically you pay about Euro1,000 which pays to transport the car and gets you a lovely ensuite cabin; own toilet and shower and very clean and comfortable it was too.

More importantly i am pleased to report loading and transport of my p&j was very good (German efficiency!). I've attached a couple of pics for you to see the car on the train, but always ask for the top deck and then simply drive on. The rear is clamped in place but given how low the car is at the front they use sandbags to keep it safe and secure as the clamps wouldnt fit! Remember to disable the alarm!

Then it is simply time to retire to your cabin and tuck into some vino and let the train take the strain. Unloading the next morning took about 10 minutes and then it's a 3 hour drive to Calais from Dusseldorf or you can break up the journey with lunch in Bruges.
As an aside, i was completely overwhelmed by the car's ('07 4.3 Vantage) ability to not only eat motorway miles whilst also being very rewarding to drive the twisties over the Alps. I am heartbroken to be letting her go but the arrival of a real baby means i have to find something a little more practical! I hope you find this review useful.
