BMW F45 2014. BMW Goodwill on autobox failure

The wife's car had a drive train warning. Went in for a egr recall so I asked the dealer to check drive train warning. Turns out it's a converter lockup error on transmission only has 33k on it. BMW UK have offered 70 percent parts cost and car is from 2014. But we have to cover the remaining 30 percent of transmission and 6 hours labour.
Anyone had experience with BMW goodwill. Could I get any more contribution from them ? If so what methods do people normally use ?

What actual issues have you had with the transmission?
I would get the EGR replaced, reset all codes and drive it. I bet you never have another issue with it, if you do, then take it back in.

Given it’s out of warranty by some 3 years I’d say it’s not a bad offer. However if 30 percent and 6 hours is £2500 then it might be worth seeing what a gearbox specialist says.
I asked a few transmission specialist they said around 2 -2.5k. Some said they would want a few hundred just to look at it to check the selonoid. One said to me 500 to take out gearbox for diagnosis. The wife plans on keeping the car for a long time anyway as it's really high spec. So I'm thinking maybe get it replaced and then write a letter to BMW UK and see if they can refund the 30 percent difference.
The car has gone in for a recall on EGR anyway and I just asked them to check the error out.

When the EGR fails you get a slight hesitation that feels like the fuel has been starved for a split second or like the gearbox has lost drive for a second.
This can throw the faults you are seeing.
But until you get the EGR swapped and codes reset and start driving it again you don't really know if there is a problem.
If the convertor lock up is stuck in the open position it will be very, very obvious. As you press the throttle the revs will climb like mad and you will get very little drive, you will have to give it some beans to get any acceleration.
My guess is this simply is not the case and that error code has happened because it has stayed open for a split second at some point.

the warranty is not what it used to be, mainly because bmw dealers are not what they should be. Someone will come along shortly and praise the warranty but qualify that you need a "strong relationship" with the local dealer etc. Just like you need to be on personal terms with your local john lewis to get them to fix that sofa right. lol.
The "goodwill" doesnt look so good if there is no fault. More like a way to gouge 2.5k.

Certainly don't need any special or strong relationship, I had a pulley break car got recovered to a BMW dealer I'd never used before. Was fixed within 36 hours of break down.

I've had nearly every claim paid out on mine, but I've had to fight for a few. Certainly don't need any special or strong relationship, I had a pulley break car got recovered to a BMW dealer I'd never used before. Was fixed within 36 hours of break down.
Reasons have varied from the dealer just being exceptionally dim to breaking something and then denying responsibility.

Not my experience at all. In the end after being diagnosed for some unnecessary work for £950 "not covered by warranty because its wear and tear, sir". I pushed very hard to get a heap of stuff done by playing allianz and newtis "must replace in pairs if over 80km" and the dealer off against each other. Played the "bmw says" (via newtis) safety/doubt card to get it all done, then cancelled.
Allianz were great. The dealers (shytner) are liars.
I couldnt be arsed with the hassle. Im also giving a very abbreviated version. It was a horrid overal experience.
I am also entirely convinced the warranty scheme is being abused by dealers. Replace one side claim both type stuff. All those single use alu bolts - of course the claim for them, but do they fit them! Also when you as a customer get told that was £5000000000 worth of work you think "wow thank goodness for warranty for my uber complicated bmw" even though the local indy could have done it far cheaper and probably less than the excess.

Mine is the same group.
They changed an aux drive pulley, and when I got the car back it squeals every time I start it up from cold.
Told them this wasn't happening before and they said I need a new belt.
Paid £180 to replace the belt, noise is still there.
Took it back and they said its my alternator, they replaced it.
Noise is still there.
Been on hold sorting it due to the current situation, but its going back Saturday.

This is so much the case. The amount of people who pay £1500 to have a new DPF when it needs an £80 thermostat.
The issue these days is as soon as the computer throws a code they run their hands together and start swapping out things like transmissions!
Hence why I am asking to the OP what issues has he actually got?
I bet there is absolutely nothing wrong with his gearbox at 33k miles.
I have done complete flushes on these 'boxes at 150,000 miles after customers have been told they needed a new gearbox and they have then been like new and ran perfectly for another 100,000 miles.
These 'boxes are pretty tough and I would be very surprised to see a torque convertor failure on them, especially at such low milage.
I've seen both sides of both the AUC and BMW Insured warranties, but overall I'm in a positive position (by about £5k).
Had the 'pair' issue on EDC dampers (on an M5), to be told at collection that the warranty would only pay for one side.
Had the 'excess diagnostic' issue where warranty would only pay for 4 hours of investigative work and not the full 24 hours they were claiming (even though I'd got a copy of the warranty invoice to show that over 20 hours had been billed & paid for).
But ultimately, I've had a new engine, new diff, new calipers & discs (but not the pads strangely) over the life of the Z4M.
Don't have much of a relationship with any dealer, but I was told a while ago they've got a 'warranty allowance' and they try to allocate that to customers where they're likely to see 'add-on' spend - as once the warranty allocation has gone for the year they have to contribute more themselves.
