Why oh why would you commute with a GS fully boxed up?
Perhaps he had to take his globetrotting adventurer aspirations to work? And let's face it, they are likely to be far too big for a mere top box...
I think this every time I see a fully pannier-ed up adventure bike in central London...'what have you actually got in that pannier'...who needs 4568796 liters of storage for a day in the office.

I am going to ask someone next time I am at the light.

I had some dick on a what I believe to be a 1200 bandit S type thing trying his best to pull away from my 750ss to no avail. He tried all sorts but there I was stuck with him.

I pulled alongside at the traffic lights and know he has a lot more power waited for him to scarper but as we left the tool cuts straight across me.

Some bikers are so st at riding bikes. Or just st heads in general!

Yeh, I wear one of these all the time when commuting. My eyes still get itchy, but stops the sneezing.

Both, I see tool riding everyday.. these are clearly people that don't spend year round on the bikes like some of us let alone give a flying f**k for their fellow bikes.
Generally have I find I encounter a larger number of tool levels of riding on the way home on summer evenings.
Had one such tool moment last night one bloke rather than correctly joining the back of the mass queue of bikes waiting at the lights as he arrived way later than us no this guy was passing all of us round the outside just as the lights went green - then proceeded to pansy his way between the traffic blocking my progress because he couldn't filter for s**t - he eventually got the message and got the f**k out of the way.. I just shook my head at him as I blasted past. If you can't talk the talk don't walk the walk! LOL

Atleast it's a bike....seemingly having this daily with scooter throbers

Overtake them when rising along, stop at the line only for them to pull in front of you and others to sit directly in front of you! Taken a leaf and have started just accelerating, passing them very closely at near full chat - seeing them wobble in your mirrors as you've squeezed past them normally stops them from doing it again at the next set!

I back to commuting after a short break. One week in and it's business as usual. Filtering routes blocked by knuckleheads with brogues on their motorised tricycles, and cyclists trying to undertake me while I'm turning left

It could be worse. It could be winter and all the ladies are wearing big coats

I didn't mention the scooterists because thats the norm you just have to educate them at each and every opportunity. As soon as they've done this once they are not given any respect, its this level of youthful arrogance and general lack of respect for others which now plagues us nowadays.

having a sneezing fit on a motorbike is dangerous....bloomin hayfever - has anyone actually found a cure?

Otherwise the roads were empty this morning, usual Friday calm the way I travel in.

Bike ticked over 51,000 miles too still roaring along.
I tipped over 102,000 miles this morning. I think roaring is not quite the right word for my tractor. Almost completely cattle trucked is a more apt description.

Empty London Bridge so I gave it a squeeze in 1st (no pedestrian worries given the new barriers).

2/3 of the way over some policemen were waving at me...who knows why....thankfully no speed gun but I wasn't going to wait and find out what they wanted!

Joining the A34 at Oxford, three cars in front of me and a car behind me along a gentle slip road approaching the dual carriageway at around 50 mph. The three cars join the A34, all very normal, lots of space, the inside lane is clear, I look behind life saver, the car behind me pulls onto the A34 and speeds up and is looking to overtake and leave me on a soon to end slip road, I can't speed up as the car in front of me is not moving very he then goes back onto the slip road, undertakes me and straight into the overtaking lane.
I use my horn, but my initial reaction is ey? I can’t believe he did that, the road was clear, sure we're only going as fast as the first car but that's pretty normal.

I’m pssed off so I follow him, I’m a way back, I don’t have to be in his bumper. He’s taking the inside lane to undertake cars and sits close to a car in front, he goes to the outside lane and tailgates very close to a car, I move to the inside, as it’s clear but I’m behind him, he pulls back in front of me and I follow, he leaves the A34 without indication, I’m still with him, I just want to know what was his reasoning, i'm intrigued.

As we enter Oxford I pull alongside and ask why he did that, he could have caused me to collide with him what was he thinking undertaking on a single lane slip road at the end of the slip road, he shouted that is was my fault,

I’m quite angry, what, really? I suggested that if he thought his actions were safe he needs to think about continuing to drive, shouting I say, ‘you could have caused serious injury’, but he’s repeating it’s all my fault, I should have merged sooner.

Seeing his detritus covered cake face and floppy chops waggle and sloth defined body fold into his seat while he spouted about how he couldn’t care less what pain he could have caused got me angrier, I let myself down by suggesting that I wanted to punch him in the nose, he didn’t respond, he reached for his phone, I rode away and calmed down with a cup of tea.
I thought that most people care but some really do not give 2 fcks, although today’s episode was quite unusual. It has been therapeutic to write this.

Saw a Honda Grom rider on his arris this morning. No other car around so at a wild guess tried turning right a little too quickly for his little wheels to cope with.

I did notice though his leg was a little pink. Maybe down to wearing shorts. Also noticed no gloves and no socks under his trainers. I'm not one to normally call out peoples attire when riding a bike but sometimes it's just not cool to try and be cool !!

Fortunately he came off opposite the hospital entrance
I'm the same people can wear what they want when riding but I personally do wince at the lack of gloves.. SV extra loud exhausts just observed on my lunch break jeans and t-shirt, NO gloves.. throttling off up to the lights both hands off the bars and coasting - so also yes WTF is it with the hands off the bars I'm too cool for school brigade coasting??? It only takes a special minicab move to spoil things.
It's fun!!! I expect HIM to be a grumpy old fker...
I wasn't be grumpy this time, just pointing out how things can go wrong. He can wear what he likes but, as in this case, needs to be aware of the risks. I wonder if he wraps up next time?
I didn't say you were, just that I'd expect it more from you than him...I like taking my hands off the bars and sitting back sometimes, although since I got new tyres there's the slightest of weaves from my steering.

Someone cut me up in my lane tonight forcing me to stop then the girl in the lane next to me ran over my foot. After some pointing she backed up as she's managed to stop the car on my foot pinning me to the floor. I really couldn't be bothered to do anything than ride on and get the hell out of there but I consider my tcx x five boots a worthwhile investment...

Unfortunately it's not worth it. The excess is more than the cost of the repair. The downside is that the bike I used to guard fiercely and looked after has now lost its appeal. I still love riding it, but it has turned into an appliance since that happened.

I will get around to swapping the tank over with my other TRX, so no cost involved, but without the love motivation becomes hard to find.
I got the estimate today. £2000 to fix it all. It's on its way to the insurers so we'll see what happens.

Another decent run in this morning, riding with a white fireblade (older one this time) from Beckenham - Lewisham where they turned off and I carried on. Traffic fine, weather hadn't yet heated up properly and all was well apart from the same L-Plate CBF125 tt making progress but getting in the way:

Get past them only to actually go the correct side of lane dividers and they take to the wrong lane and pass = overtake again....repeat adfinitum

Pretty easy ride in. I get in early so temperature not up to silly levels but still warm.

I passed a very nice looking Porsche "something serious" (I didn't clock the exact model) as he was stuck in the traffic on the M11 approach to the A406. It made me think how lucky we are. There he was with world leading performance just under his right foot yet was going no faster then the rep-mobiles, the builders vans and the small city cars all around him while I trundled passed doing 25mph more than him and with the realistic prospect of getting to Waterloo station in less than 30 mins.
