I got my current Rukka stuff ten years ago and its showing some wear and tear. It's also not as waterproof as I would want it to be as I found out last night...

As much as I love it and can't fault it over the last ten years, I paid £750 for the jacket, trousers and some gloves (non Rukka). Prices have increased a stupid amount since then and you are looking at £1,000+ for a jacket alone!

I'm looking for textiles rather than leathers. Waterproof. Thermal lining that can be removed as and when. I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount if they will last.

Any suggestions?

Bit of a bump...

I've gone for Richa Atlantic GTX 2 trousers and jacket. Should get them in a week or so. I'm hoping for good things. I'm really impressed with the Richa gloves that I've got.

Are you wearing waterproof layers over your Rukka gear?

That's an option, instead of replacing it all.

I bought my Rukka gear second hand from eBay 5 years ago, and with another thin waterproof layer over the top (Richa Rain Warrior trousers and jacket) I feel like I'd need to be riding literally all day in some seriously heavy rain to start getting damp (Gloves is another conversation..)

Nah I didn't even think of that ro be honest. But I needed some new stuff anyway. The lining in the leg is coming apart. Plus the deal I got is worth it (trade prices effectively).

Got them today. Bit of a struggle getting into the jacket until I realised they had some straps around the waist ha. First impressions are good. Very warm with the thermals in.

Will give them a go on Monday and see how they are riding.

Finally got to use them in the rain yesterday and they are perfect! No issues with any water getting in. Impressed at how quickly they dried as well. Stuck them in the bathroom over the bath and they were dry this morning.

On the subject of BKS...I got measured up today for some textiles for work. I'm very impressed with the service! I'd love to buy some when my Richa stuff wears out...but I can't afford them ha.

Bit of a wait due to demand but I should get them in February time.

Can’t you keep (or buy cheaply) the BKS textiles once they’re no longer needed for the job?
I've got no idea if I'd be allowed to keep it. That being said a mate does ride in with his BKS leathers so I assume so! Won't be for a few years though that I'll need a replacement set though.

Bit of a review of the BKS stuff.

Used it for three weeks. Almost 2,000 miles in all weather.

Whilst I'm sure protection wise it's good, I've not had the chance to test it thankfully.

Fit wise...considering its M2M I'm not that impressed. To lose around the waist that they fall down when walking normally.

Knee pad in a really annoying place that doesn't sit on my knees.

Sleeves a bit too short which means the gloves don't fully reach the cuff.

My off the peg Richa fits me better and was £4,000 cheaper...

Did you have a test fitting session when the clothing was part-manufactured ? These all seem like issues that should have been caught at that point.

When I had my Hideout m2m textiles made, that fitting session was really important and caused some changes to be accommodated that couldn't have been done later.
Nope. Literally measured at the shop and it got sent to work a few months later.

It makes sense. If I was paying for them myself I'd be pissed. But I'm not so it's alright. Sleeve issue can be sorted with different gloves.

@LosingGrip – Did you raise these issues with Brian? I believe he gives you up to a year in which to have cost-free adjustments made(?).

Aside from the fit, I’m curious how the BKS textiles have performed in all weathers. What have they been like?

yes Me, too. However, Hideout stressed the test fitting session’s importance. Does BKS put as much emphasis on it?
To be fair I haven't as it will do. Worse case I'll just get some braces or something to stop them falling down.

Day one was biblical rain. Slight leak in the collar due to not pulling it all the way up.

Right knee gets a little damp/cold. I can't work out if it's water getting through or just the knee pad being cold against my knee (I just wear boxers under my trousers).

Other than that...perfect (minus the sleeve issue).
