DRC problems on the RS4

Hi,
I have a couple of questions about the above if anyone can help?
1. How common is it and how will I know (assuming the seller lies
) that the car is affected?
2. How much is it to fix?
3. Has anyone had a dealer contribute to the fix or have Audi UK acknowledged the problem and coughed up under warranty?
4. Is it serious enough a problem to make me buy an M5 instead!?
