Ok, a tad O/T here but....

Do people working in the door-to-door / canvassing sector of the sales industry actually make decent amounts of money?

Was talking to someone the other day and she was in the aforementioned sector, selling kitchens and the figures she was tossing about as wages were...

Some people make money, but a lot of commisions never seem to make it as far as the canvasser so most of the time they are collecting mimumum wage.

That was my experience of it as a teen..I was one of the better canvassers but very rarely did I see any commission cheques.

HI, I WAS ABOUT TO START DOOR - DOOR CANVASSING TODAY, BUT I HAVE CHANGE MY MIND, I JUST DON'T THINK I'LL MAKE ENOUGH MONEY, THEY CAN PAY YOU HOURLY BUT YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE MORE THAN 60 CUSTOMERS, IF YOU DO IT ON COMMISION YOU ONLY GET 15%, THAT MEANS YOU HAVE GOT TO GET 40 CUSTOMERS, IN A WEEK.

I used to live next door to a chap called Eddy Coventry. He started out in this, selling double glazing. He said to me once it was just a state of mind and lots of numbers.

It clearly worked for him: Eddy is the "C" in BAC Windows, has a runway in his back garden and owns a genuine Navy Spitfire.
