Microsoft 365 Business Standard

Undoubtedly user error, but I'm having issues with OneNote.
I've not used it in anger before, but it seems I have created several notebooks when I've tried it previously.

Now, whenever I create a Notebook it appears in three places in my One Drive (business) folder

1. One Drive (in the root of the drive)
2. One Drive > Notebooks
3. One Drive > Documents > OneNote Notebooks

I've tried resetting the Windows 10 App, and moving the location using Microsoft 365 program. No change - within a few hours they've been replicated, though separate instances.

Getting my goat now. irked

I tried to convert to one note a few years ago, the experience was great apart from the saving then finding them again, i had the same issue and now just use it locally on my work pc as a very basic notes program.

Looks great in principal I just cant get my head around it for some reason

I had a similar issue, there’s the Win 10 native One Note app, then you’ve got your 365 One Note app as well.

Many pc’s come with a 30 day trial of vanilla 365 too, it’s a bloody mess when they get mixed up with 365 for business.

Then on top of that I had a laptop on my company domain, plus this laptop was also connected to my Hotmail/Livemail account so there was multiple copies all over the place, really very confusing.

Onedrive was the same too, multiple instances of various versions.

Remove all the native apps, only use the 365 versions would be a good start.

Think I've cracked it...
You cannot delete notebooks using Windows Explorer view of One Drive. You have to delete them from Microsoft 365 online view of One Drive.
Close the now orphaned Notebooks in all clients, then create notebook(s) in your choice of folder be it One Drive or Sharepoint and ensure all your clients open the same notebook(s). Voila!

Now... let's see if it's all it's cracked up to be!
