Sniping a domain name...

I'm not being purely evil, and plan to hold names to ransom, but I do know of a few that are coming up for renewal.

I've heard that there is also a 30 day grace period after they lapse which is a shame, if you've passed the deadline, you have just a month to the next deadline...

Is there any easy ways to do this?
