what is the best mercedes muscle car ?
Discussion
Mercedes Benz Muscle Car is truly an oxymoron.
Muscle cars, as I knew them growing up in the late 60s US, were cars with monster HP for the size/weight, could barely turn a corner doing more than 30mph and were only good in a very straight line and SHORT bursts of acceleration.
MB simply does not build a car like this. I owned an AMG GTS. This was a great GT car and very track worthy from the factory, but could not match up with current fast "straight-line" cars like Hellcats, Camaros, some Mustangs, which survived from the true muscle car era.
Cars with the track worthiness, right from the factory, like the AMG GT line through to the AMG GTBS are not muscle cars, even though some owners in the US insist in trying to make them so, which is such a waste of a great automobile.

Yeah but...I grew up in the UK fascinated by the likes of AMG and Brabus shoehorning the largest engine they could into any given Merc. But also, at the same time, sticking proper brakes and suspension on what they were building so they could be used in a much more all-round manner. I know you can't compare the price points, but I do see the similarity of the starting point of ramming a huge engine in up front.Muscle cars, as I knew them growing up in the late 60s US, were cars with monster HP for the size/weight, could barely turn a corner doing more than 30mph and were only good in a very straight line and SHORT bursts of acceleration.
To me, the Germans refined the approach and delivered some great cars as a result that could batter across a continent with ease.
To answer the OP, 500e, Rocket, Hammer etc
