Silverstone Sunday Service 11/10

Another trip to Silverstone with discounted track time too!

Following the success of our Silverstone Sunday Service earlier this year, we have decided to return on October 11 for our next Sunday meet. Once again we will be offering track time to those who want get their cars on circuit before the winter weather turns against us.

PistonHeads will have exclusive use of the 1.6-mile National track for the entire morning, comprising five 30-minute sessions for just £40 per car. And don't worry if you have little or no experience driving on a circuit as these will be divided between novice and Intermediate.

All of our track sessions will have a maximum number of 35 cars per session so there will be plenty of space; we'll also be taking some of the PH Fleet cars on track and offering passenger rides in them if you trust us!

Please call 0844 3728 235 to book track time quoting 'PISTON1015' and state your proficiency level, whether novice or intermediate.

The gates will be open from 0830h and the Sunday Service will run until about 1300h. We have space for 500 cars on top of those cars going on track so there's no excuse not to come along!

As always there will be refreshments available from the Silverstone cafe but we will also be selling T-shirts, mugs and stickers at this Sunday Service. So come along with some extra cash to grab yourself some merchandise! The event is also raising money for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance so any donations you can provide during the day would be greatly appreciated.

Please note that if you book track time, your name doesn't need to be added to the Sunday Service calendar as you will be parked in the paddock, not with the Sunday Service. The areas are next to each other though so you will be able to wander around looking at the cars in attendance.

Sign yourself up via the calendar here and we'll see you there!

The PH team

This event will be subject to stoppages and weather conditions. Fingers crossed!

I think it's 102 or 105dB drive by.

EDIT: Yeah, it's 102dB.

Can't wait for this! Wanted to attend a PH service for years now, but was based in Scotland and never had a car. Will be my first time driving on a track as well!

Just to clarify, is it £40 for one of the sessions, or £40 and you get to do all the sessions at either intermediate or novice, depending what you signed up for?

Assuming it's cars only, for the track sessions?

I'm aiming to come on the bike...

Any advice for a complete track newb? By which I mean I know nothing about such things.

Presumably I can't just book and turn up on the day? I'll need specific insurance as I'm guessing this doesn't count as "commute and domestic"? Other than a full tank of petrol, what else do I need to be thinking of? Thanks.

Signed up. The Porsche one was great last year, be good to see some PH cars on the track as well as parked up.

What's the deal with spectating? I assume grandstands will be closed off, are we watching from the grass banks near the entrance to the car park for example? We watched the Caterhams from there at the Porsche SS..

Hopefully I can get a slot booked.....a E39 540i auto on track should be.....comfortable, if not all that fast!

It'll be car only but would be good if the organisers had one bike sessions next year please.

eta there is a bike track day on the same curcuit on the 8th which I'm aiming to get on.

Insurance isn't a bad idea... but equally isn't necessary if you're feeling brave!

Other things to consider are getting some instruction (Silverstone will have instructors on hand to sit next to you) and watching this handy video that we made isn't a bad idea either!

We did Goodwood with PH last December (hoping to do so again this year!) and were in a much less valuable car. I'm worrying slightly about the current car but nobody really pushes that hard on these days. I'll not be doing tuition though as I honestly don't want to be persuaded to push too hard!
