Good day everyone.

I'm about to begin a rebuild on my Tuscan which has been sitting for the last 6 years in someones barn. Starting to buy up parts and materials at the moment and I'm first looking at the exhaust system. I'm not yet knowledgeable on the car having only worked on my Elise before this.

My cans are not the carbon fiber type and the rear boxes are dented and shot to bits, so it'll all need replacing. I will be having the engine rebuilt at some point and may look at more power, so I am thinking if I am about to replace it all, maybe I should get it spec'd like an S?

Can anyone tell me the differences between standard and S spec? My understanding:

- manifolds are the same
- cats are the same entrance size (since same manifold) but the exit is wider (so would need to replace mine)
- then presumably the main pipe all the way to the silencers is wider on the S?
- are the silencers the same?
- are the cans the same?

I am looking at buying the powertech cans, with ideally a similar volume to standard (I'm not after a super mad exhaust). Are these differently sized for S vs standard?

Can anyone tell me about deleting the rear silencers? Does it make it unbearably loud or cause MOT issues? I do like the idea of simplifying and lightening the exhaust but not if makes it a total hassle or too loud.

Thanks for any info!

Hi there,

I have Tuscan S and had new rear silencers and cans made by Tim at ACT. I can confirm the rear pipe is larger on the S than the standard car, at 2.5 inches (vs 2.25 I think).

I can’t answer the rest of your questions but I would recommend calling Tim at ACT as he will be able to help and supply all that you need.

Ps - any pictures of your barn find?
