This new Vauxhall looks decent...

The new Frontera looks a worthy rival to the PH favourite Dacia:

One of the more desirable new cars?!

Not sure why mods move this sort of thing in to the depths of beyond from General gassing yet leave other stuff... Novitec McLaren, get it chucked in the McLaren section. New Jaguar, get it in the Jaguar section.
But that looks perfectly unoffensive and I can see there being a market for a small, cheap SUV however they always seem to be a wee bit heavy on the tech side when in reality, maybe that's their undoing. The review "Pros and Cons" is a lot of nonsense though... "It's not the most dynamic" and "It's narrow so shoulder room is compromised" or words to that effect. What were they expecting?

Yes it’s perfectly inoffensive, thus all the more reason why it should be in general ( rather than specialised) gassing. After all, the more average a car is, the more it is “General”.But that looks perfectly unoffensive and I can see there being a market for a small, cheap SUV however they always seem to be a wee bit heavy on the tech side when in reality, maybe that's their undoing. I thought the original was a pretty decent looking car for the type and time.
It was everything else that let it down.
The original seems to get a lot of criticism however whilst it wasn't exactly the last word in refinement or build quality, I think many view in in the same category as a new SQ8 or Range Rover Vogue. It isn't, by a country mile. It was conceived back in the late 80's (?) and can probably trace bits of itself back to the dark ages. Ladder chassis, proper 4x4 set up, long travel and very utilitarian so no wonder it was pretty crap as "a car" but as a 4x4 it was pretty capable... more so with the original 2.7 diesel was was as refined as falling down the stairs but just chugged onwards. The issue was Vauxhall tried to push it as a car whereas arguably, pushing it as a no frills off roader may have been better. That said an ex boss had the last of line 2.2DTi and then a 3.2, both LWB and in Olympus spec and they were ok... It was everything else that let it down.
