In the past we have always sold higher value items (£1000 - £5000) and had a insurance policy in place with a £250 excess so when we have had to claim we were able to swallow that excess and it worked out ok.

We are now selling some lower value parts too which range from £70 - £500 and would like them covering, our existing policy wont lower the excess below £250 so anything below that its not worth claiming. Can anyone recommend a broker or company who can help with lower value insurance?

It’s something we can potentially look at, but you won’t get below a £100 xs

The issue is, as you can image, is that the claims frequency would quickly make it unprofitable at normal cargo rates.

It’s likely cheaper to tick the box with the carrier.

Watch with the palletline punters re insurance, they limit their cost at a rate/ton, which is fine for heavy stuff, not so great when a light £4000 fabricated frame gets bent because they don't give a st at the hub

You've also to fill out war and peace and wait for their insurers to inspect the goods by that time your customer is either offsite or demanding replacement parts FOC

^^^^its not just pallet line, it’s all hauliers…it’s called RHA conditions. It’s been like that for decades. It’s around 1100 euros per tonne .

Most countries have a similar weight based liability system.

I run a courier company
I would share my companies details on here like I did before but about 30 people spent all weekend searching the internet trying to find as much negative stuff as they could despite our customers being delighted and an excellent Trustpilot rating
Its not worth the agro on here

The independent insurers will always refer to the ts and cs of the carrier you have selected and they will match the risk when underwriting against this . if it looks like it will get damaged it will b difficult to claim

The value can also always be disputed in a claim

An example of this is passport insurance !
You can only ever claim for the value of the physical document ie £1

Yip you're correct and it's a sham and a rip-off
However I assume the OP is talking about paying an additional cost for more cover??
