Looking at something like a Panasonic FS-10 for a compact - there's not much other choice if you want HD Video, image stabilisation, slim/compact design and cheap.

But have been wondering about the HD video... Is there a limit to how long you can shoot, or will it keep going until the card is full? And roughly how many minutes will I get per GB?

Also will a basic SanDisk SD card do, or should I look for something faster to cope with video?

Time/card will be camera and res specific, but you will generally need a CAT 4 card to capture HD vid smoothly.

This runs at 1080p on my 42" TV smooth as a baby's bum... but I needed a really fast card to capture it (SanDisc Extreme 3 or better) www.stevecarter.com/goprotest.wmv (from a GoPro by the way)

maybe not as cheap and abit hard to find now but i use a Cybershot h20.

Some are limited to 10 mins worth of footage but the h20 does 30 mins plus it takes a fair amount of abuse.

Panasonic DMC FT1 is a pretty amazing camera... indestructable and does some very good optically stabailized 720p HD video..

Given how much vibration you get in a helicopoter.... its not doing a bad job!
