You assume that the DVLA know what they are talking about. Based on my recent experiences I'd give 6/4 against!

but on this occasion you're probably right

Apart from Q-plates of course - they are also dateless, and issued to kit cars made from pieces of indeterminate age... or rebuilt cars using say a new shell and various donor parts... or some imports which have previously been registered abroad...

Today, Chan was 'followed' by plod for quite a few miles in the Tam with the S6 00MPH plate (font and everything else UK standard, and she wasn't stopped! Was suprised when she told me, but happy!

hmmmm, We recently bought a car for my girlfriend from a good family friend (of hers)

It is a 1995 model year car, imported from Ireland in 2000. They kept the Irish plate and put it on their new car, and sent the documents away to DVLA to have it re-registered.

All the documents came back from DVLA, and the car is now blessed with a W plate, and the Logbook states: no previous recorded owners, Vehicle confirmed built in 1995.

WE have now registered, insured, taxed and MOT-d the car with this number plate on it - just made sure the MOT tester knew it was first used in 1995.

DVLA made a mistake?

BTW, they stopped making them in 1997!
