If by 'others' you mean me, then please don't put words in my mouth! I don't believe I've ever said that.

Fair comment, sorry about that, though the "BT has better lawyers" crack was pushing it somewhat I thought.
No probs, sorry if it riled you, and it was incorrect of me to aim that partially in your direction.

No problem, probably as you imply a little thin-skinned of me. It was very much tongue-in-cheek as I hoped was implied by the .

Although I still think that there is a vanishingly chance of a successful prosecution for BT doing what is, after all, their job.

Up to you but I think you need to document your complaint in writing and make them aware you are serious.

Bit worried about your statement that you told them "you can pay them......." Hmmmm potentially tricky that.

Start off by contacting ICSTIS and asking which company runs / leases the numbers that you have been charged for dialling. Will help put your case together, and you may be able to follow a trail so far before handing it over to the professionals.

This has been going on for a while now. Originally I would phone BT and then put a copy of the converstaion in writing to them as a proper record. However I am so fed up with their automatic call receiving thing and being kept on hold for up to 30 minutes at a time that I only send letters now. History so far:

As soon as I got the bill I told BT it was fraudelent and I wouldn't pay.
BT said I had to pay but I should contact ICSTIS to report the numbers and if they turned out to be fraudulent I could recover my money from the fraudsters.
As the chances of recovery were slim I told BT I wouldn't pay them until the numbers had been investigated by ICSTIS. If ICSTIS ruled they were un-fraudulent then I would gladly pay, if they were ruled as fraudulent then I wouldn't. If BT chose to pay the fraudsters in the meantime then that was up to them.
I reported 4 numbers to ICSTIS and 3 of them have since been found fraudulent and the 4th is still under investigation.
I have pointed this out to BT and they have been strangely silent. It is now 2 months since I last heard from them so maybe they have given up.
