Why is this headline news? I can understand the Fail/Sun making it a big deal, but for the rest of us it's just ridiculous.

I just enjoy the clips of Wayne arriving & leaving court. Never has a man looked more like he was told he had to be there but really doesn't want to be.
The body language between the Rooney’s speaks volumes, a marriage in name only if I had to hazard a guess.

It’s fair to say Rooney pissed his talent away
What an odd opinion confused
Top scorer of all time for Man Utd and England. Wish I had that much talent to 'piss away'.
Because of so many games only and a shedload of penalties.

Rooney could have done so much more

Is it? Ronaldo at the same age is still banging in hat tricks in the Premier League. Rooney isn’t but could have been every bit as capable of doing so.

I'll +1 that for sure.
Absolutely this. No idea what's driving this but no-one is going to come out of this looking good.
Except the legal teams bank accounts.

Played for England until 31, retiring as all-time highest England goalscorer.
Left Man U at 31 as their all-time highest goalscorer.
Played until 35.

If that's pissing your talent away you set a high bar.
Not a fan of Rooney or Man U, but that's just idiocy.

Again, it’s like Stephen hawking getting a first class degree and then working in a school teaching gsce’s forever

Wasted his potential. He could have put those records away for a long long time.

He smoked and drank loads during his career by his own admission, ergo he pissed his talent away and retired early

Claiming the England and Man U all-time top scorer pissed away his talent is too stupid to argue with.
So okay, you're right. He could have played 'till 50. After all Stanley Matthews did, which means any less and Ronaldo is also pissing away his talent. Or, alternatively, not.

My conclusion about this is that some people just like an argument about anything.

Rooney has said himself about his drinking and smoking and general lifestyle.

Regardless of his achievements (and I’m a fan) he could have done a lot more

It’s far from idiocy as you put it, there are several published articles from professional sports journalists with the same view? Perhaps you need to look closer to home for the idiocy

I’m going to assume you don’t watch much football?

I’ve never heard anyone say that Rooney ‘pissed away his talent’. He was a world class footballer and will go down as one of the best English players of our lifetimes.

Comparing anyone to Ronaldo will make them look like a relative couch potato.

It does though seem that neither party gives a monkeys about the costs or even the award of damages. If they did they’d have settled months ago. They want to be proved right and in Vardy’s case she wants her name cleared. Which is ironic given that her own evidence has made her look like a thick narcissist.
They're both thick narcissists.

Lol, no idea why photography still isn't permitted in court. These sketches are complete garbage.
Yes was thinking the same, just what is the point, obviously some weird old law, surely it can be modernised.

As said, it's a huge waste of time and money.

I wish the judge would just sentence them both to a month in prison.

I think the advice on not pursuing the legal route “ out of principle” has been ignored in this case.
It looks like a facebook/ instagram spat between two self obsessed idiots taken to the £££££££££££££ world of courts.
Oh how I wish I had gone down the legal route for a career!

Yes. It’s incredibly odd. As others have pointed out he has had a career in the top 0.1% of all footballers ever.

Ravel Morrison pissed his talent away. Rooney? Not a chance. Could have been even better? Perhaps. That doesn’t equal pissing talent away.

You just don’t like him clearly.

As for the argument point. Why return to a forum if you don’t like debate? confused
