Forget stabilisers - we should all be restricted by electronic means to ensure that we dont break speed limits. Then there can be a blanket 30 MPH in all areas - including motorways (they are sooo dangerous arent they!).

Therefore the roads will be a safe place - NOT. What on earth do these people think they are doing? So, not content with having "electronic aids" for normal things like traction control, we as drivers are completely abducating our responsibility of speed to some electronics. Therefore 30 MPH down the packed high streets, 30 MPH past the school at kicking out time.... we would never go less than that because we would never be caught....

They are utter and complete "loonies". Why is this earth populated with such oxygen sucking waste-of-spaces. Lets be honest here - there are some more important things in life and stopping people speeding aint one of them...

Bloody loonies (words changed to allow the posting to sneak past Ted without censorship).

Cheers,

Paul

Its all very well grumbling about the police, but the real problem is the politicians. (especially the green ones) The police are not autonamous they are briefed through the home office. If they were told to lay off, or better still the speed limits were scrapped, that would be the end of the problem. As for increases in accidents and fatalities, is it not likely that this is caused by more cars in less space due to green road reducing measures which cause additional stress. By the same logic, despite speed bumps reducing deaths in certain places the deaths are increased. This leads to the conclusion that the measures introduced are the cause and therefore the legislators and implimenters are guilty of manslaughter. So when are the greens going to arrested and charged?

in reference to the first point made on this thread, a friend of mine was done for driving his lorry at 53 mph (he thinks by a camera car) on a perfectly safe, straight, dry, A road.Granted the legal limit for a LGV is 40 on any given A road, but which is more dangerous?- a lorry doing 56 mph with most car drivers happy to sit behind or one that is plodding on at 40 with the majority of following cars desperately trying to overtake.Legal yes, but safe?

It was mentioned that someone had their car stolen regularly but the police never turned up, just issued a crime number over the phone. They were probably too busy hiding in bushes zapping 'speeders'. However, the reason for the lack of interest is more worrying - statistics. If an officer visits a crime scene then the crime is logged in the stats. If they issue a crime number but don't attend then thre crime is not recorded. Simple really, concentrate on 'crimes' they can solve (speeding, for example) and the clear up rates improve and their targets become achievable!

One more reason why we're being abused with motoring laws.

Cardigan hater, Get real where did you get your info from, "don't attend the scene, it dosn't get recrded as a crime" !!!! Bol***ks concentrating on 'crimes we can solve ..... Speeding' !!!! . If you report a crime it gets recorded, no matter how you report it- FACT. Speeding is not a Crime.... it is a summary offence it gets recorded on your driving licence as points not on a criminal record,- FACT. Traffic officers primarily deal with traffic matters that is what we are good at, we did however start out like any other officer , so we can still do the job, an I hasten to add still get involved in 'normal'police work. However, a great deal of our time is taken up dealing with idiots, like a recent example of two that decided they wanted a race. Early hours of the morning, not many cars about except they managed to find 3 that were just minding their own business, end result 2 innocent people are now dead and 3 others are seriously injured. As for hiding in bushes potting speeders, !!! luxury I have not managed to do that for the last 2 months I have been going from RTA to RTA and trying to fit paperwork into the bits in between. Where did you get you info from ???? I would love to know
P.S. Why do we need to visit the 'scene of the crime' when a car gets stolen, there is vary rarely anything there of value from an evidence point of view, so why waste more of the tax payers money sending a car round

JR, good points.. however, in mateys defense, I would like to point out that a friend of mine telephoned his local nick, to report a prowler.

The officer told him that they were "too busy to attend". What if the prowler had turned violent ?

This was in Red Lodge, where there are some well known speed trap sites. Speed traps in an empty village, with a road 5 cars wide, and 40mph limit...

So maybe they do actually prefer to catch the easy ones, and leave the less profitable jobs alone ??

Not having a go John, but you may not see what goes on in the rest of the world. It looks as if having a number plate makes you easy meat, while real criminals get away with it. I bet you've heard that a lot of times, but 90% of PH readers will agree with me. Please keep replying to post though, your opinion is very interesting.
