They all have mechanical advance as revs is the key factor in ignition timing.
Then some have vacuum advance to give some more advance at low throttle openings.
I have an xflow and a BDR both without vacuum advance which seems fine.
There's lots of systems out there such as the Pertronix or Aldon setups. 123ignition seems well regarded. The more expensive ones give user control over the advance curve if you have special requirements there!

For; S4 7. For my, S4 Seven project. Need the cabin heater assembly. Maybe an S3, S2 Seven cabin heater will work? What is the source of the S4 cabin heater? I have read Rover, the Rovers I look at have a round heater. Have; Elan heater and Europa heater assemblies are they similiar? The Europa heater assembly is smaller than the Elan with no fan. What about Triumph Spitfire cabin heater, too large? Perhaps a picture could be posted, No idea of what I am looking for. Thanks for the help in advance. Located in Arizona mrvman
No idea, sorry. The S4 is quite a different car from my S3, but Chris at Redline is knowledgeable about all forms of Caterhams and can source most parts / sundries for most models, including the S4. He has, I believe, the original S4 body moulds too, so can arrange for new parts to be made… send him your query and he'll get back to you. It is a small business, so a little patience goes along way.
Did anyone on here buy this S4 at Spicers Auction?

Attempting to, "preassemble" my S4 before paint. Question, There is a stamped sheet metal bracket that holds the upper steering column (bracket 19 in parts list). Where and how does the bracket mount? Under the lip of fiberglass under the tachometer and speedometer? Trying to upload pictures with no success. If the bracket fits under the instrument panel, does a hole need to be cut in the fiberglass under the tackometer and speedometer? I am dealing with a new body. Thank you in advance. More questions as this continues. Steve V. In Arizona USA
