Thoughts on Vauxhall Mokka Design

[quote=A1VDY]Amazing how things turn into personal slagging so easily on PH. All over a mundane volume car... lol.. [/quote
Yes, that seems to have followed the normal path!
I saw an Astra VXR yesterday that looked and sounded great, but it wasn't a "Mokka Turbo" or any other similar hateful cr*p.

I think tbf, the Corsa is well past its sell by date, but the Astra and Insignia are class competitive. The 1.4T SRI Astra for example, is I believe used by a particular high performance driving instructor who has worked with F1 drivers, so I dont think it can be that bad!
I'm not a particular Vauxhall fan either, but I do think its odd how many anti Vauxhall threads develop on here. You would never see such vitriol directed at Citroen, Renault, Peugeot etc,who make equally bland and generic white goods type vehicles.
Most car manufacturers make bland cars, just look at the identikit range that the germans produce. They get a free pass though because of 'german engineering'.I'm not a particular Vauxhall fan either, but I do think its odd how many anti Vauxhall threads develop on here. Just face it, nearly all modern cars are rather dull. Just Vauxhall's are the cheap target as they don't have the faux badge value that bmw or VW has.

And this is when we know you are losing the argument.

I've owned one vauxhall in my approaching 20 years of driving, a pretty basic 1.4 Astra (2006) i owned that for 5 years, and on 2 occasions did a 1,000 mile round trip with my Mrs, and 3 kids in the back all with the boot completely packed out, never once did it let me down in the entire time i owned it.
I've also been in the newer ones too but only because my workplace has had them over the years as fleet cars, and they are better than what i had in terms of styling and interior etc but i think a lot of people forget that these cars are not built to compete with the Germans, and the price reflects that.
Fact of the matter is what a lot of PH consider great and a "drivers car" and all the rest that gets churned out on here is a minority, and the mass market is full of cars just like the mokka and other similar variants from other manufacturers which is exactly why Vauxhall and others alike keep churning them out, because they sell well.

Its all in my garage if you care to look, but to save you the effort I own two Mercs and a Renault
Yes I did say owned not hired.

Weird, isn’t it? I have a Mercedes and a Mazda, but I would consider a Vauxhall alongside the other options. I’ve had several in the past

The new Corsa is just coming out now I’m waiting for the old N’Ring version to come into my secondhand price range after having sampled them at Oulton and then managed to wangle a road test
Brilliant fun

I will leave that there for consideration.
Just one change, delete the bit about towing but leave the bit about caravanists, there wont be many of these s
tboxes being used as tow cars in your local race car paddock, the Mokka is an utterly cack vehicle in all respects (yes I have driven a few, petrol and diesel). A car designed to be hand picked by idiots.
There are only so many times you can repeat your confirmation bias against a brand or their owners in this thread without appearing irrational about it. Just one change, delete the bit about towing but leave the bit about caravanists, there wont be many of these s

Never had a Vauxhall but as I am badge agnostic I wouldn't rule one out. Particularly as I know how much benchmarking is going on behind the scenes and that a car like the Grandland X is underpinned by the 3008 which is a great car in its segment.
I had a very bad experience today, I said to my wife, this is it, time for me to hand in my licence and give up my life long passion in cars.
I was over taken today by a Mokka, driven by a woman (she may have been wearing a track suit, might even of had kids in the back), I was in a 6 cylinder BMW on a nice open A road (ok I may have been distracted at the time watching out for falling trees and huge puddles from storm Ciara).
I did have a second to ponder on that class leading design as it flew past me in a ball of spray (and Vape cloud).
