EVO say they were fleeced for £485 for new brake pads all round at a VXR dealer? Is this true? If so, you're all mad.

For that money they could have had Tarox G88 discs and Pagid RS14 pads - instead they have brakes that will give up at the mearest hint of some 'spirited' braking...

Yes, the brakes are that expensive, but the majority of that is labour charges.

The cost of the pads is not too far removed from the likes of EBC Green Stuff.

The amount VX charge for changing the pads is stupid. It takes 20 mins to change both sets of front pads, and not much more than 30/40 mins to do the rears.

I think that EVO do quite a lot of stuff by the book - like proper servicing, letting VX change the pads etc to give a representative view of cost of owning a particular car. This might not be fair on something like a VX220, where you can change the front pad very easily.

How they can charge that much without being arrested for robbery is a mystery!!

Benjie - sure they charge 200+ just for the pads! I fitted EBC greenstuff on each corner for about 65quid and as you say didnt take too long

Looking forward to his AMD zorst/ remap next month though
