Marc Laidlaw has posted on his website what could have been the storyline for Half Life 2 Episode 3, seems the traffic has killed his site so it has been saved to Github.

https://github.com/Jackathan/MarcLaidlaw-Epistle3

Assuming this is genuine I guess this kind of confirms we'll never see a follow up game to Episode 2 from Valve.

Whether it is genuine or not, it's a nice plot and could have worked.

The dream is officially dead frown I honestly thought they would one day get round to it.

No matter. For those of a certain age Half Life 1 was as good as it got. Seminal in my opinion.

Just don't play HL1 again. It will ruin your memory. Black Mesa for 1 and the Fakefactory Cinematic mod for HL2.

Even when it was new I hated those Xen levels at the end. Stupid bouncy platforms.

The end was the st bit of half life 1. The rest of it was brilliant imo.

Me too, we still play all the episodes on the Orange Box on Xbox one.

I have even bought a spare copy of the Orange Box Game just in case we wear the original one out!

That's despite also having the same set of games on valve on my MacBook Pro too!

At least they didn't ruin half the game by using an enemy with cheap ass and annoying swarming AI

Agree, great game up until all the silly alien stuff appeared.

It was a strange and irritating end to an otherwise good game.

Robert Guillaume (Tv's Benson) has passed away, he was the voice of Dr Eli Vance.

This was a triumph. I'm making a note here; "huge success". It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

Well there's no sense crying over every mistake, you just keep on trying until you run out of cake.

always loved the way it built tension by having nothing happen for the first bit of the game, also its obvious they have had people who worked in big heavy industry to advise on the way the facilities looked.

Epic game. Cant wait to see Barney again :0
