Thought I'd wrap up my tribute to Apollo with a similar mission to Duna.

Lift-off!

Leaving orbit

CM rotated 180 deg and docking with the lander

Aero braking in the Duna atmosphere to achieve orbit

Lander is away

On finals

Money shot

Returning to orbit

Docking with the CM

Arriving home

Bit late to the party, but that's shift work for you.

This was my own flight inspired by the events of 50 years ago.

On the pad, all systems go.

We have lift off

Successful 1st stage separation

Interstage fairing detached

Successful 2nd stage separation

After a couple fo circuits in a parking orbit, time for the trans Munar injection burn

We're on our way, time to reveal the Munar Expedition Module

MEM successfully extracted

Slowing down for Munar Orbit capture

Jeb and Bill are settled in for the short drop to the surface

The obligatory flag plant

Rueful of the litter they are leaving behind, Jeb and Bill start their return journey to Munar orbit

Bob is happy to see Jeb and Bill's successful return from the surface

Might as well give the guys back at Mission Control a fireworks show

Splashdown (almost)

It’s not squad.

Q: What has Star Theory Games successfully released in the past?

A: This is the first title for Star Theory Games, of whom a few developers remain from its predecessor company, Uber Entertainment. Uber is known for Monday Night Combat, Planetary Annihilation, and VR titles. The Star Theory team is comprised of skilled Unity game developers who are lifelong fans of KSP and are credited on AAA games from companies like Microsoft, PopCap, and Gas Powered Games. See more of the team at Star Theory in our Developer Story video.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

If they try to replicate the graphics in that trailer it's going to need a much more powerful PC than the original, but I'm heartened that the website mentions mods, which is what makes the game in my opinion

Great news!

Curious to see how multiplayer will work; it could be fun to travel to the Mun and nick someone else's ascent stage to get back.

Ringed planets and interstellar travel too!

That's enough for me to ignore any news of KSP2 and wait for it to be properly released and reviewed before I get it.

I think when Kerbal 1 was first available to buy it so different and interesting that we didn't mind early access, these days (can't find the grandpa smilie...) people have been so burned by early access and we already have KSP 1 that a lot of people are going to wait until the first patch after release before buying it!

Plus a lot of people will probably wait until the modders are up to speed. I don't usually bother installing each new version of KSP1 for a fair while so that all my favourite mods are available

Well, I did notice in the news the other day:

Spacedotcom said:
China's Chang'e-4 lunar rover has discovered an unusually colored, 'gel-like' substance during its exploration activities on the far side of the moon.
Just sayin'...

often says return x safely to Kerbin........... clearly as we all know safety is over rated. If it hits you have landed....if your Kerbin can walk away its a great landing.
