Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
Discussion
Had a quick go at lunch. Flew from London City westwards down the Thames in an Extra 330:
- A steady 30 fps for me, up from hovering around 15
- You can now fly through Tower Bridge
- And under Albert Bridge..
- A hard right at Wandsworth will put you in the drink
- The skies are much busier, it's great
- You can spot Xbox players several miles off
- Xbox players can't take off in 747s
No complaints from me, other than the download speed!

I've had a quick play on it tonight. It's never crashed on me before, but tonight it's fallen over regularly, to the point I'm going to do something else instead.
I've had to reset most of my controls and sensitivities and I think I've got it about right again. However, I generally hold the right mouse button to look around when I'm in flight. Now when I do that, the joystick input doesn't work. I have to leave go of the mouse button, make an adjustment to my heading or such, and press the mouse button to look around again. Before tonight it was all seamless and all inputs would work at the same time.
I've looked through the settings but can't see anything obvious to change.
For the few moments I was in flight, the graphics seemed okay with everything pumped up to full. I never had an issue with that previously though, so until I fly on it properly, I don't know if the updates have helped me in that department.

Is there a better way?
I think it’s called a Windows PC. Not tried. Pretty certain the Xbox will support a mouse and keyboard. Won’t help with resolution though - is there a “console mode”
You almost want something running on a tablet for auxiliary controls.

Its terrible now isn't it. I had the day off today so I did a complete clean install and it literally took all day to download. Trying it for an hour it didn't crash to desktop anymore like it was doing last night but I still have this issue where I didn't have it before yesterday.
Same problem as the video I posted a few pages up. I use it in VR and for me its took a massive hit in performance, definitely gone a lot worse for me since before all the update, coupled with I've had to empty the community folder of about 50gb of downloaded content most of which probably won't work with the sim anymore.
I was sold this game on it being a technical professional simulator and its now been dumbed down for the x box users so they can land a 747 next to the pyramids and take a screenshot for instagram.
I'm so glad I didn't invest in a Reverb G2 and new GPU, I'm going to try and get my 60 notes back for this rip off.

Some people are hard to please.
It’s a major update. Be patient.
I don't think getting pissed off at spending £60 on something to it then being destroyed to suit someone else is being hard to please. It’s a major update. Be patient.
I’m loving it running on my Xbox nice and smooth with no crashes.
