Did you guys play 50 missions crush?

This was a great B17 game where you bombed the Nazis but you had crew positions that got upgraded, I think you even named them so it was sad when any died.

It was an early version of B17 Flying Fortress.

No never seen that one what was it on ?

Seems like it wasn’t that popular.

Will this work on a rather old Xbox One S, does anyone know?

If so, I might wipe the dust off mine and give it a go...
Afraid not.
Cloud gaming coming to XBone apparently.
So, sort of. You stream the game to the older console. Like you can do to tablet and/or PC.

My first time was Apache on the C64. Then Apache, Falcon and MS2.0 on my Atari ST.
I spent ages searching for scenery discs for FS2, and flew all the way down the US East coast. Need to go back up in FS2020!
Have since had most flight Sims since.
For WW2 I think Il-2 is best at the moment, especially in VR,and it's Flying Circus module is awesome for WW1

ACE ( wiki) was an early one, but wasn't my first. I can't find any screenshots of the instrument only simulation on the Ti 99/4: only had an artificial horizon of three 2 coloured squares (green and blue) that moved up or down (to give indication of banking) and flipped if you happened to be upside down.
If you are into helicopters though - this was the dog's danglies on the acorn electron:

Played this loads too, A10 tank killer

https://youtu.be/q8hQTLwkGuE

You had a map showing the sam radars etc so had to fly down the valleys and pop up and destroy them. Seemed quite strategic at the time, obviously now it looks pants.

That was a good one. Can you remember the other A10 sim that had very smooth vector graphics think there was also a MIG 29 version.

I vividly remember watching the rolling demo for Tornado and thinking wow ! I was waiting outside the shop on release day. Great campaign and mission planner.

Biplane Duel ! Always a place in my heart for that. Loved it on the Atari 2600 and in the Arcades before that !

Loved this. Anything by Mircroprose really.

I started with Spitfire 40 on the C64, before moving to KotS on the Amiga. Loved F/A18 Interceptor too though.

As good as these were back then, it certainly shows how far MSFS has come and how our expectation has risen over the years. Happy days.

I'm loving all this flight sim nostalgia. I have played most of these. My all time favorite was EF2000
https://youtu.be/bmCie9CkaJg

I really liked being able to program the height into the autopilot at 200ft and it would fly you home hugging the ground. You could also laser designate bomb targets.

I remember downloading the 3dFX patch for EF2000 only for someone to pick the phone up when it was on 99% ! It wouldn’t resume and had been downloading for about 4 hours.

Sadly, I haven't been able to find the right level of sim for me.
My requirements would be:
  1. Pew, pew shoot 'em up. Missiles and guns. Jets and pistons
  2. Simple enough to fly within a few minutes of starting. Easy with a joystick and regular keyboard and without needing to read a massive manual or have PPL
  3. Not so simplistic that a monkey could fly it.
  4. Complex enough to be able to program an autopilot on waypoints/heights, operate complex weaponry, etc., Learn a bit more by delving into a manual as required.
  5. Decent AI wingmen (or co-op multiplay)
  6. Missions

Yes I think we might not see the like of those sims again :-( I really miss the immersion we had with dynamic campaigns in Tornado, Falcon 4 etc.

You felt like a small cog doing your part in a larger battle. I’m hoping DCS will get their finger out with the dynamic campaign they are working on….

Talking about DCS .. Have you tried it ? If not download it and have a go. The free P51 is pretty much like the one that costs but without the guns and the SU-25 is much simpler than the pay ware stuff but doesn’t have a clickable cockpit.

If you like those 2 maybe buy the Mustang and a couple of the other Flaming Cliffs aircraft. A10 and F15 ? If you buy the cheap Flaming Cliffs aircraft you can also buy mission packs that aren’t expensive.
