Freestar Rangers is indeed a good one to do fairly early - good call.

And worth getting a few Constellation ones done so you've met all the team, then you can decide whether to do their loyalty missions and so on.

Yeah a few of each is good -

Look out for ‘The Mantis’ questline which starts by reading a random note that is called ‘Wanted’.

Ryujin questline is ok requires a lot of stealth didn’t really play into the rest of the story much so safe to do whenever.

There is a bug with the main questline, iirc it’s best to get that progressed past ‘into the unknown’ else you might block its progression. Mate is still stuck with that since day dot.

Apparently the reason behind all the loading screens, limited area exploring on planets etc.. is because the game engine uses the players spawn point as it's reference to place assets, build procedural generation and load any quest or NPC game data not the player. So go too far from the entry spawn point and it starts to lose track of assets, objects, player and basically starts breaking so they have a maximum distance where it doesn't break and no more. To change it to player based would require a complete rebuilding of the game, the way things load in how they are managed and how things are triggered even if the game engine could handle it. It's how it worked with the limited map size of Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 4, using loading screens for entering buildings but it's no good for planet exploration.

I seem to remember reading that on XBox, Morrowind would freeze the graphics output, then reboot the console during loading screens - I think it was that the engine had memory allocation issues.

It does feel a bit like Bethesda should probably just shift to Unreal Engine or similar - surely it'd be less work.

If it's repetitive like Red Dead or Assassins was (I've played neither since the earliest titles) then I'm out!
It uses the same assets for 'dungeons' basically you go to a listening post, or a cave, or a ship repair yard or basically any of the 'structures' on any planet service and aside from differently generated enemies - Eliptic, Crimson Fleet, Spacers, Var'uun inside the layouts are all the same. After a while I cottoned on and unless there was a Bounty or a ship hails for help and you go to help or needed to go find some more digipicks or med packs or whatever to bolster your inventory, or even to just get some XP or do some crafting stuff, there is no real reward to wandering a planets surface and investigating whats over there (Caveat - unless its a ship that lands - I got a really good Va'ruun ship randomly by running over, killing everyone outside and then everyone on board and then flying off with it - I really like that you can do that. And in space too) That said I have played the game heaps, really enjoyed the UC/Crimson Fleet, UC Vanguard and Freestar Rangers quests. Some good variation in choices to make. I'd recommend it if you are after an RPG but if you are just looking for another game but have limited space on your drive (Xbox Series S here) and are on the fence maybe wait till you've finished another game.

Very much so, especially with the Creation Club now active. I went back into it last night and this morning, and I still find it enjoyable. Given all the work that's gone into it over the last year, extra options and tweaks etc, I'd say if you're starting from new it will be a very different experience to what us Day One'ers had.

I haven't picked it up for a few months now, kinda got to the place where I think I needed some new lines to get involved with. Excited for the DLC.

Thanks... hopefully it should go on sale when they release the DLC.

30 day average players.
Starfield = 7,513
Skyrim = 19,128
Fallout 4 = 14,220

It will be interesting if this changes, with the dlc release.
